This DT card for All Dressed Up Stamps features an adorable
digi from a “New Release Inspiration”
Day for artist Wendy Burns' latest creations. I had fun being creative
with the "Wings of a Butterfly". The wings have a soft look because I placed a layer of
vellum on top. I sketched the wing outlines with a white
gel pen to provide a bit of emphasis. I also cropped and printed copies of the three
butterflies so I could color, fussy-cut, and adhere them to the sweet fairy. The
soft colors and white gel pen highlights help them stand out a bit,
especially from her hair.
And speaking of her hair… well... I started with a color that wasn't
quite what I expected. I was too far along in the coloring of the digi at that
time to discard it, so I decided to continue. A few layers of shading and
highlighting with several colors later, and I like the results! The
background was also an experiment. As I dug through my patterned papers, I found this unusual patterned paper that is actually from a box of cards featuring
desert plants. (I did some research and found this plant named Echeveria
Subsessilis Succulent in the Succulents category.) I like how the colors provide
an unexpected complement to my card! Three additional butterflies and a scrap
of the patterned paper also embellish the inside sentiment.

include me in the draw for their prize!
This month’s theme for the WeCraftCards
Forum on Discord is Texture Takeover, and the week's challenge is to create a
card that includes three types of texture. For my card I used several types and
weights of paper (medium-weight plaid-patterned paper, heavy-weight Burgundy Core'dinations
Cardstock, glossy red circle, smooth kraft). I also created a few circle embellishments,
topped with holly-shaped sequins I’ve had in my stash for a few decades. The red
sequins create round and smooth berries, and the green leaf sequins are
embossed with raised veins. The paper circles and sequins are stitched together
with green thread.

Supplies:
· Sentiments are from two of Beccy’s Place Christmas Digi Set (Sadly, Beccy recently
closed her digi shop so these digis are not available.)
·
Core’dinations paper- JoAnne’s Craft
Store (No longer in business)
·
Sookwang double-sided tape- Available from several sources on the web.
·
All other misc. items and tools from my stash.

I’ve always appreciated Sherry West’s
whimsical artwork, and I built quite a collection of her digis when I was one
of DTs during the time she was active on FB. These days Sherry generously offers
them through challenge sponsorships I
was thrilled to win two of Sherry’s digis via a recent Outlawz challenge. This adorable
penguin is one of them. I had fun coloring this little cutie, and the fishy gifts
on his Xmus list!
An added note, although not updated
regularly, an assortment of Sherry’s coloring pages are available on her
FB page HERE . Just type Free and Freebie in the
search link to access them.
Supplies:
·
Digi from Sherry West Art provided to random “Site Wide” winner (moi!) at
the June Outlawz Challenges (Sherry no longer sells digis, but she does have a
nice line of clear stamp sets available at Stampaddicts.)
·
Colored with Spectrum
