This month’s sketch at Build Your Stash Holiday
Cardmakers group (BYSHC) Challenge on FB is a simple one
that has inspired me to make many cards. This one features a sweet
coffee-drinking elf, name of Antoni. Even though he's dressed in non-traditional Christmas colors, he does look appropriately decked out to take on the snow and cold that many of us
experience during the holidays. I for one LOVE snow… so I have lots of woolen items
and coffee close to hand when the holidays draw near!
PS I was happy to see that
Dina Gerner has opened a new Digi Doodle Studios online shop. Dina has been
offering her adorable images as clear stamps, dies, and paper products, via her
Ink ‘n Splatter Studio line. Those items are now included, along with digital
images, in her new shop. Such great news!

Back in the late ‘9os, I co-owned a small stamp store in South
Dakota. One of my favorite tasks was teaching classes, and this card was a very
popular one! When de-cluttering my craft room and garage, I found a copy of the instruction sheet that was provided to class attendees, and also was for sale
at the store (for just 95¢!) I’m providing you with a copy here… for free!
The image on this card
was embossed, but I’ve also used the same template when stamping with dye ink
pads and fall leaves, baby bottles, and more. (Stay tuned for other tri-fold
cards in the future.)

I wanted to make a playful card for the current
travel-themed challenge at Time Out. I love to travel, and whenever possible, love to be near the ocean. Hearing the sound of waves wash across the beach thrills
my soul! Several years ago I found the fun sentiment on the front of the card
via Pinterest, and I totally agree with it! and created the inside sentiment to fit
the Dorothy theme! I found several flip-flop templates on Pinterest that
inspired the one on my card. An upcycled calendar page, a flower punch, brightly
patterned paper, and a strip of polka-dotted ribbon finish out my card.

Supplies:
·
Background Scene- Upcycled from an old calendar page
·
Flip-Flops on the card inspired by templates on Pinterest, especially the
ones found HERE and HERE
· Front
Sentiment “If Dorothy can click her heels together… ” found on Pinterest HERE
· Inside Sentiment-
Computer Generated (to fit with front sentiment.)
·
Sookwang double-sided tape- Available from several sources on the web.
·
Sheer black dotted Swiss ribbon- JoAnne’s

Kathy, this is such a lovely card! I'm glad you got it in on time for this challenge at Word Art Wednesday. I love the special fold and the pattern is so soft, but the red background really pops it all out. I've been enjoying making slimline cards too lately. We're so glad you've joined us! :)
ReplyDeleteBarb, thanks so much for your kind words. I wanted to let you know that I found a copy of a tutorial I developed for this card when I was teaching classes back in the 90's. I took photos and attached them with the photos for this card. Thought you might want to nab a copy!
