The WeCraftCards Forum recently
challenged participants to make 3D flowers using book pages, music sheets, punches, dies, or cut
files. I knew I had a
flower punch that I bought at a Stampin' Up show back in the 90s, but had never
used. I found it in the "donation" box I started when I began my
task of downsizing a few months ago. I was thankful it was still sitting in my
craft room! I used the flower punch with scraps of old choir books (that had
belonged to my grandmother-in-law, and had been discovered when she entered a nursing
home, and we were cleaning out her basement. They were ripped and water damaged,
but I nabbed them because most were dated from the 1890s through the 1940s!) I
also had a dictionary that I used in school during the 60s and 70s, which means it can also be considered vintage!
I punched dozens of flowers, layered
them together with a slight dab of glue, then topped each with a little flower
sticker that added color and texture. I noticed some herringbone-patterned
green paper in my stash and found a quick and easy way to make leaves with it. After
cutting the herringbone pattern into long strips, I folded each strip into short
sections, then trimmed each section into a leaf shape, and adhered them to the
layered flowers. I positioned the flowers and a few sentiments on
patterned paper to make three cards. I love how they turned out!
An added note- The
sentiments are from the Spring 2025 Scrapbooking
Fun Summit, a 4-day virtual
event I attended this past May. The sentiments on these cards are from one of
the summit presenters, Sarah Lihz, Sarah’s business name is Sassy’s LLC, and
she offered what she calls “Emergency Card Kits” during the Summit, which
included Free Downloads of wonderful card ideas and sentiments. You can see her
videos, and learn about her card kits HERE.
