This is my DT card for All Dressed Up
Stamps by artist Wendy Burns. I had fun being creative with an adorable digi named "Wings of a Butterfly" from the ADU"s “New Release Inspiration Day" HERE (FB) and HERE. The beautiful fairy's wings have a layer of vellum on top to provide a soft
look. I sketched the wing outlines with a white gel pen to provide a bit of emphasis.
In cropped and printed copies of the three butterflies to I could color,
fussy-cut and adhere them to the sweet fairy. The soft colors and white gel pen
highlights help them to stand our a bit, especially from her hair.
And speaking of her hair… well... I
started with a color that wasn't quite what I expected. I was too far along in
the coloring of the digi at that time to discard it, so decided to continue. A
few layers of shading and highlighting with a few colors later, and I like the results!
The background was also an experiment. As I
dug through my patterned papers and found this unusual patterned paper that is
actually from a box of cards featuring desert plants. (I did some research and found
this plant named Echeveria Subsessilis Succulent in the Succulents category.) I
like how the colors provide an unexpected compliment to my card! Three additional
butterflies and a scrap of the patterned paper also embellish the inside
sentiment.
