My first card for this post is for one of
my favorite challenges names “Snippets.” I love that it encourages me to use
all the lovely paper scraps that I hoard… I mean… save for later use! I found a
pile of a pastel colored scraps from a paper pad I bought to make a baby gift
years ago. The pages in the pad all had the same pattern in a half-dozen pastel
colors. I trimmed the scraps into strips, then created a herringbone pattern
using one of my often used tutorial that I found on Pinterest years ago (weblink
in supplies list.) The bunny, bunch of carrots, and inside sentiment are all
from a Beccy’s Place digi set. (I used a strip of fluffy white yarn to create a
tail with texture. After seeing this photo, I decided it looks more like a
frosted mini-cinnamon roll than a bunny tail! I’ll see if I can fluff it up a
bit before I slip it into the gift bags of assorted themed cards that I’ll be
giving as graduation and wedding gifts in the coming months.)

a cute but also completely unpredictable rabbit named “Snowball.”

Since I’m a Contributor for Beccy’s Place, I’m entering just
for fun!
If you are a regular here at my blog, you might know that I regularly
donate cards to the drug/alcohol treatment center where I work, so that our
clients can keep in touch with loved ones. I often get requests for kids cards,
especially princesses and dinosaurs. I recently was asked if I could make a
card with turtles, specifically Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT). Since I
like challenges… I said I’d try. I don’t
have any TMNT stamps or digis, so decided to sketch them… with the help of a
TMNT coloring book (which I’m thinking will become happy mail to one of my
grandnephews/nieces in the near future!)

Although they are reptiles, since the TMN Turtles say things like “Cowabunga, dude!” I think they qualify

Di’s Digi Stamps- Fantasy

This cute feline in a stamp
set from Biblical Impressions named “Crazy Kitty” always
makes me laugh. This time I stamped it on kraft-colored cardstock with black
ink and got to work with my Spectrum Noir Coloring System alcohol markers
and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. The paws, which come in the set, were
stamped on scrap paper, colored and fussy-cut. I then mounted them with foam
tape, positioning them to look like the kitty is peeking over them. The front
sentiment is a vintage wood-mount stamp from Printworks. The “Excerpt from the Diary of a Cat” on the inside is
computer-generated. I found it on the internet years ago and it was love at
first sight. (Since I like to give credit when I use an image or sentiment, I researched its source when I first posted a card using it in 2017. I couldn’t find
the original author, but I found an article from
the 1990s that mentioned it. I just checked and that site is no longer
available. Currently, the funny excerpt does pop up in lots of locations on the
web, one of them is a 400+ page book named “Getting Out: Excerpts
from a Cat’s Diary” by John Woodcock. Since I found the earlier listing from
the 1990’s and this book was published in 2009, it’s not the original source…
but it might credit the original author. For that reason, I’m going to
say I’ve done my due diligence it trying to follow copyright rules! (Can you
tell that two jobs I’ve had in the last 50 years were at a community
Carnegie Library during high school, and as a work-study librarian at
the University I attended in the 70s!)
