Mid-week Creations

It's Wednesday! So it’s time for another challenge at Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge Blog where challenges are always Anything Goes and prizes are awarded from one or more sponsors.  Stop by the blog to check it out!
For this challenge, I liked two of the digis so much that I asked to make two DT cards for two different sponsors.

The first DT card features a beautiful Hetty Clare digi named “Looking At the Future.” I wanted to make a card for a dear friend. The sentiment is one I’ve had on my laptop for some time.* I printed it off in an elegant font named Beyond Wonderland then created a crown with metallic cardstock and assorted rhinestones. My friend's faith is very important to her, so I hope that this card blesses her as much as her friendship and prayers the last few years have blessed my family and me!
* Note- when I tried to find the source on the web, I found hundreds of items (posters, jewelry, mugs, and more) with versions of this quote, but no real source. So… if you recognize it, please let me know so I can give appropriate credit.)

The second DT card features a digi from Patties Creations named “Message in a Bottle.” I created a base for my card with an upcycled calendar page. I adhered it to the card front with staples. I looked for a message to add to the card and couldn’t find one that said what I wanted so I developed my own. Printed on a sheet of tan parchment stationery, I tore around the edges to create a rustic look and adhered it to the card front. I printed the bottle digi on white cardstock, fussy-cut, then laid it atop the lower-left portion of the card. Using a pencil, I lightly sketched the waves, shadows in the sand, and tan parchment message. I then used Spectrum Noir markers to lightly color these items onto the bottle and add color to the cork. When finished, I traced the bottle onto a scrap of green plastic document sheet* with a black permanent fine-line Sharpie marker and cut it out. I added a thin strip of clear double-stick tape along the top, bottom, and sides of the bottle and attached the green bottle cutout. The final touch was to add bold highlights with a white gel pen.
*(These wonderful items come in a pack of assorted colors and can be found in the office supply section of most stores. I really like using them on my cards because they're cheaper than colored vellum and are more translucent.  You can write on them with a fine-line permanent marker and white gel pen. The plastic is also easy to fussy-cut with a nice, sharp pair of scissors.)
