This week's Simon
Says Challenge is named Steampunk and I knew just which image I wanted to use
on my card! “It’s Tea Time” from The Paper Shelter features a beautiful steampunk
image. I appreciate that most of The Paper Shelter digi sets include a
background. For this one, I printed it off in shades of grey so that the
steampunk beauty would stand out when colored in shades of rose, burgundy, teal, and aqua, with silver accents. I tried to add a vintage look to the card by
adding a lacy square paper doily on its base. A few gears, cut from metallic
silver paper add to the steampunk theme.

Last month I made
30 baby announcements for a couple of dear friends who just had a baby this
week. They knew they were having a baby
(so bring on the PINK) and their theme was elephants, so I used this cute
elephant digi from Little Scraps of Heaven (LSOH) on two of the card designs
for their announcements. I shared one design a few weeks ago. Here is the
second one. (I’m glad I remembered to take photos of the cards before I sent
them on!) To simplify the process of making 30 cards, I appreciated that the
LSOH digi is pre-colored. I just added a bit more contrast with a light grey
marker for shading, a bit more pink on the ears, and a white gel pen for highlights. I’m entering this card into several challenges including Incy
Wincy Designs “Let’s Celebrate” (I love celebrating new babies!)
