The first card
is a short, square gate-fold card that features the cupcake in the set. I used scrapbook
templates to make circles of vellum for the candle glow. (I sponged yellow ink
on the smallest one that is placed on top of the three small vellum circles.) I
wanted to use the B&W patterned background, but it overwhelmed the cupcake
and candles. So I added muted the background with two more circles, one vellum
and one made with a scrap from a pretty red plastic document sheet. (These wonderful items come in a pack of assorted colors and can
be found in the office supply section of most stores. I really like using them
on my cards because they're cheaper than colored vellum and are more
translucent. You can write on them with
a fine-line permanent marker, which I used to trace the circle, and hearts on
the inside of the card. The plastic is easy to fussy-cut with a nice, sharp
pair of scissors.)

The second
card features the wonderful many-tiered cake that required is a tall, slim-line
card! Once again, I backed it with a panel of B&W patterned paper and added
a yellow-sponged circle of vellum behind the candle flame. A sprinkling of tiny punched stars help add a festive feeling to the card. So fun!
Beccy encourages us to create a color chart to accompany our creations, so I’m including one that features the items that I used to make this card. (PS the chart says this is a pop-up card. I had intended to make a popup card with this digi. But it was too tall to pop-up and instead became a fall over card! So... I went with the slim line version using the image I'd colored.)

Art Wednesday Challenge- #454-455 Anything Goes
My third card this posting was stamped for the current Simon Says Wednesday Challenge’s “Stamp It in STAMPtember®” which requires the use of a clear stamp. I dug through my clear stamp sets and decided to use a Hero Arts Color Layering set. This isn’t my usual style of stamping, as I prefer coloring with markers vs. stamp pads, but decided to mix things up a bit. Was inspired by a goldfish card on Pinterest, and found a fishbowl template helped me to develop a shape card. I stamped and fussy-cut the goldfish, then attached them to the inside of the card with little strips of acetate so they dangled when the card is standing. A few strands of seaweed were also colored, fussy-cut, and adhered to the inside of the acetate "bowl" to create depth in the finished card. The Dr. Seuss sentiment is computer generated using a fun grunge font named Beyond Wonderland, that I found for at Dafont.com (my favorite place to find free fonts!)
