R2D2 plus cute and elegant

Needed some Valentine cards to add to the gift packs of cards that I am providing to some family friends who are heading to college next week. So… figured that Star Wars cards would work. Although, I prefer the Classic Star Wars characters. So… R2D2 it is! Found this free clip art image on the web, added some embossed aluminum foil and a computer printed sentiment. Then mounted all of that onto starry sky scrapbook paper. Oh… and hearts. Needed to add some hearts. Because… well… Valentines Day?!

Love this sweet image from Di’s Digi Stamps named Animal Tower. Figured it would be perfect for a baby card. Used a free digi sentiment from here- http://www.papercraftsmag.com/content_downloads/WelcomeBaby.jpg with an added puffy heart.

I love working with kraft paper… so had fun with this challenge. The flowers are free digis from Beccy’s Place, colored with pencils and fussy cut, they add a nice touch when layered atop an Anna Griffin ornate die named “Elenor Laces”. Used a scrap of a striped paper bag that once held truffles from a local coffee shop (they were yummy!). Finished the card with a die cut “Love” from an SU set.

Another entry for a Kraft and White color challenge. Used the “scrap” portion from the diecut made for the last card to add the sentiment for this one. Loved the kraft colored floral pattern on the background paper, which is the perfect fit for this card. But felt that it needed a bit more depth, so fussy cut the two circles with leaves peeking off the edge and layered on kraft paper for extra definition. Also, the ribbon looks yellowish in this photo. It is actually that rich color that I think it called “Champaign White” (at least that was the name of it when I went wedding dress shopping with a friend!)

My final card for this posting is added to my Christmas stash for the coming holiday. I upcycled an old South Dakota calendar for the inside of the card, and used a scrap on the tag. Since my hubby and I plan to go home to South Dakota this Christmas, am thinking I'll send this card to my sweet MIL!
I placed the tag at an angle so I can enter it into the Art Impressions “Off Kilter” challenge. Am entering it into several Christmas challenges including one that requires Leaves (am hoping that the little bit of holly on the tag qualifies!)

  6. Gorgeous cards Kathy, well done!
I love the addition of the foil on your R2D2 card, it works great with the droid. I don't think I've ever seen a Star Wars Valentine's Day card before, but yours is very sweet... love the sentiment.
The image on your second card is gorgeous, love those adorable little faces. You've done a brilliant job on the colouring and shading.
I, too, love white against kraft, I think it looks awesome. You did a beautiful job putting this one together and I think it was extra clever to use the off cuts from this card for the next one. The addition of the leaves and circles was a great idea, they add lots of depth.
Your Christmas card with the map inside is a wonderful idea and a great way to personalise cards for everyone.
    Fabulous job Kathy!
    Cheers,
    Beccy
