A Trio of Kitty Cards

I discovered a wonderful annual challenge after I started blogging named the Cat Lover’s Hop, and they are celebrating their 6th year of fun and prizes! The host, Janis from Her Peaceful Garden Blogspot, recruits sponsors (42 this year!) that offer some great prizes. The challenge runs for one week and the focus is on CATS! It ends tonight and a super busy week didn’t allow any stamping time so I feared I wouldn’t get to play along. However, I spent all day happily creating and was thrilled to finish five cards. I just posted two, and will now try to get the other three posted quickly before the deadline hits, adding details later if time runs short.

My third first card features an adorable digi from Di’s Digis named Woolcup Kitty. My Spectrum Noir markers and a white gel pen helped to bring color and texture to the scene. I had fun using a rich Victorian color scheme and adding to the Victorian feeling with a paper doily. The sentiments both work perfectly with the cute scene.

Supplies:
·   Digi- Dis Digis (Woolcup Kitty)
·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen
·   Front Sentiment-Scribbles Design (Wool Valentine)
·   Inside Sentiment- “Hugs & Kisses” from Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Keeping it Simple)
·  Sandylion Heart Stickers from my scrapbooking stash
·   Tan Parchment and colored cardstock from my stash

My fourth card features items from two upcycled Christmas cards, the inside sentiment from one (unknown company), and the colorful Merry Christmas on the front is from a Hallmark notecard. I colored and fussy-cut the Bugaboo digi of a girl and her favorite cat and perched them atop the lettering. (After positioning them, I decided that I needed to tone down the lettering a bit so that the girl and her furry friend would not get lost in the busy background. I did this with a strip of vellum (a little trick that I use quite often. Vellum is one of my favorite things!) I added some color and bling to the inside sentiment with sparkly holly stickers and decided to add a few of the stickers to the front of the card, too. Because I do like sparkles! I’m entering this card into several other challenges including Outlawz Monday Greeting Challenge- One Layer is Parchment Paper (I used a light green parchment as my base.)
Supplies:
·   Digi- Bugaboo (Girl Sitter Cat)
·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen
·   Front Sentiment-Upcycled from a Hallmark Card
·   Inside Sentiment- Upcycled from a Christmas Card (unknown source)
·   Sparkly Holly Stickers- Hobby Lobby
·   Light Green Parchment, colored cardstock and black photo corners from my stash

My final entry into the 2020 Cat Lovers Hop features one of the newest images I’ve added to my ever-growing digi collection.  It is a pretty little Christmas scene from  WinkWinkInk Digital Designs named “Christmas Peace.”  I love that it conveys the message of peace not just because of the reason for the holiday… but also because it features a cat and mouse sitting together, enjoying the beautiful decorations! I wanted to focus attention on this unusual pair of buddies, so decided to use an effective, and very easy, technique named Spotlighting. (I did make a few changes to this technique as I did add some color- and bling- to the tree ornaments and star, plus used  a circle of vellum instead of black cardstock behind the colorful spotlight circle.  I’m entering this card into several other challenges including Simon Says Monday Challenge- Movie Inspired (Oh Christmas Tree) and Bugaboo Stamps Recipe Challenge- Use a Technique (Spotlight.)

  19. I was having trouble commenting on Pinterest....somehow my computer didn't seem to be on speaking terms with that platform. One of my comments miiiiiight have worked...not sure. So I am glad to come over here to comment.

Love all your cards and I am so glad you got them all entered before the gates closed!! My favorite is the WOOL you be my Valentine....so cuuuuuuuute with the kitty asleep in the tea cup! Awwwww. Love all the wonderful images you used. Your coloring is superb. I also like how you used the vellum. I don't think to get mine out, but I do love the look of it. This made such a good backing for your image so the girl and kitty did not get lost amid your background!

I am finally on the homestretch of visiting and commenting on all the awesome cat projects! I have had a lot of fun looking at everyone's work. Thank you so much for going cat crazy with us during the #2020CatLoversHop!
