Wool and Buttons

This week's sponsor at the Colour Crazy Challenge is Knitty Kitty.  For my DT card, I chose an adorable snuggly warm image named, appropriately, "Knitted Kitty." [Which is available for just $1 HERE.] I paper-pieced the wool sweater with a FREE CLIPART PHOTO of a Nordic wool sweater pattern that I found on the web. I first printed off a copy of the image on white cardstock and colored the kitty's head, feet, and tail with Spectrum Noir markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. I then created the sweater image separately. I reduced and recolored the sweater pattern to a nice soft grey then filled a page with the pattern. I printed this page off, loaded it into my copier and printed the cat image onto it. All I had to do then is fussy-cut the sweater from the image, shade it with a grey Spectrum Noir marker, add some highlights with the Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen, and adhere it atop the kitty image. I fussy cut the leaves from a vinyl wallpaper sample book [which I found when cleaning the garage. Fels like it was a reward for finally completing that task!] The circle sentiment is from one of Imagine That Digistamps Freebie sets named "Jenn and Friends." [You can find it HERE.]

This card represents the second part of my current assignment as a "Contributor" for Beccy Muir at Beccy's Place blog. The current assignment was to combine several images from the wonderful new digi set named "Button Jar" on one card. [You can find the digi set HERE.]  I provided details for a card on my last post, here is my second, a unique baby announcement. I often make baby announcements as gifts for expectant parents and like to have "samples" from which they can choose. I think this will be popular! I started by making a Criss-Cross [pocket] card with white cardstock and scraps of plaid and teal paper. It will hold a baby photo plus important baby info: date, weight, length, etc. [I found an easy-to-follow tutorial for this card fold HERE. I also liked THIS VERSION that uses two square cards to create the base because it could hold a larger baby photo.] After the pocket card was finished, I created the insert with a piece of white cardstock cut to fit inside, decorated with scrapbook paper that features cute baby footprints in several pastel colors. I added a layer of yellow vellum and a "heart template" that could be used to cut a heart-shaped photo to attach to the insert. The little tap of ribbon stapled at the top allows for ease of viewing the photo. The baby info will be computer generated and taped on the back of the insert.  The sentiments and cute little buttons are all from the digi set and colored with Spectrum Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. Am entering this card into several challenges including Outlawz Tuesday TicTacToe [diagonal from the upper left: Kids Stuff, Button and Patterned Paper.]
