The sentiment on the front is computer
generated. The one on the inside is a freebie from createwithtlc.blogspot.com,
however, it doesn’t appear to be currently available. (This is one of the sites
where I find lots of great sentiments. If you sign up for email notification-
on the left column of the blog HERE - you’ll know when new
freebies are posted.) I colored Santa and the jingle bell on the inside sentiment with Spectrum
Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen.

I
wanted to make a card for Pixies Snippets to use up some of my large collection
of scraps… plus decided to make one that could also be entered into the current
Butterfly Challenge (one color- apple green.) I think this one fits both! Since I had several scraps of
vellum, I googled origami butterflies to see if I could find an easy pattern. I
found what I needed HERE. I experimented with several sizes of
squares but simplified the pattern by just following the first 6 steps on each
one. I then paired two of the larger wings with two slightly smaller ones and
set these pairings aside. I knew that I needed a base upon which to build the
butterfly, so punched a pile of circles in various sizes, taping several
together to create a base. I put a few small strips of adhesive on the center
of the top circle, positioned the butterfly wings and then gently pressed them
in place. Was fun to create the body with assorted gems in various sizes. I
then sketched the antennae with a fine line marker. Finished by creating a card
front from a monogrammed notecard. (I had found a boxful at our local Goodwill
store. The set of 10 cards with envelopes was only $1… probably because the
monogram was a “Q”!) I covered the Q with a square of patterned tissue,
wrapping the edges under the card front and adhering them in place. I topped
this with a rectangle of sage green, then added the butterfly circle… and
finished the card with a sweet little sentiment
from a Whimsy
digi set named "Vintage Sentiments."
You can find it HERE [for just $3.]
PS- I noticed when I posted the close-up photo that one of the lower wings is attached incorrectly. It should be on top of the upper wing. Not sure if that is accurate in real life for butterfly wings, but it looks odd when asymmetrical... or in my sweet mom's speak "It's all kiddywampus!")
