Punny Card

For this weeks QKR Stampede Challenge, my DT card features a Eureka Stamp image [ES-digi1804 Sm Black Cat Smiling eyes open.]  You can find it HERE. I recently bought a cross stitch kit at Goodwill for a buck because I wanted the nice assortment of colored embroidery floss that it contained. However, I also liked the photo on the front of the finished cross stitch image, which reminded me of Wisconsin, the dairy capital of the USA. [At least that's what I've been told.] I selected the cat digi because I thought the little guy would love to be featured on a card that surrounded him with milk and cheese. The funny, or should I say punny, sentiment is computer generated. [I've had it on my computer for nearly a decade. Not sure of the source… but it makes me laugh. I added a layer of vellum behind the cat so that he wouldn't get lost in the busy background. The final touch was to add a few of my favorite puffy heart stickers [from a pack I found at Walmart that contains 113 assorted puffy hearts for just 99 cents!]   PS I made this card for my sweet hubby. He knows how much I LOVE cheese and ice cream... so he got a kick out of it.

Spent some time the last few days making patriotic cards using some vintage Stampin' Up sets. This wood mount stamp bears a copyright of 1995… which in a stamps life is truly vintage, right? I wanted the cute little garden angel to take center stage, so made a CAS card. [If you've followed me for a while, you'll know that I prefer lots of layers and embellies… and my cards are usually not simple… so CAS is always a challenge. But… I had fun with this one.]  I colored the image with Tombow watercolor markers. I was first concerned that the markers caused the black ink bled a bit, but like the way that adds a primitive look to the image.  Added highlights with a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. Also used the pen to add soften the shadow I'd given the image, which looked too dark for me.  I trimmed around the image and mounted it onto a few scraps of paper and a small strip of woven ribbon that I've had in my stash for over a decade.  The sentiment is a vintage Printworks wood mount stamp. [If you can tell, I've been digging through my wood mounts the last few days. I now use digis most of the time, so using wood mounts feels really "old school." Kinda fun.]

Francesca from Cute As A Button recently released two cute Snorkel images. This one, named "Snorkel Fun Boy" can be found HERE. For the base, I upcycled a Thank You card I'd received from a friend, removing the die-cut sentiment. I colored Snorkel Boy with Spectrum Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen, then fussy-cut it [and the sweet little fishies] then attached them to the background with foam tape. The sandy ocean floor is made with torn scraps of parchment tan paper. The sentiment inside, decorated with a few additional fishies, is a freebie from Birdscards that you can find HERE. [Note- I created this as my DT card  for Penny's Crafty Challenge Blog challenge on June 26^th. Due to computer issues, I was late in providing it to Penny's. Finally was able to email it so that it could be added to Penny's challenge but then forgot to post it on my blog. [The fact that I worked several 55 hour weeks working are to blame.]  Since it has already been posted on the web I am not able to enter it into any of the current challenges. But am posting it now… so that I can provide a bit of information and because I think it is one of the cutest images ever. [Francesca also created a similar digi that features a girl.
