One More for Freedom

My DT card for this week's QKR Stampede Challenge features the Eureka Stamp image [ES-digi37801-Declaration of Independence] that I used a few weeks ago.  You can find the great digi HERE. This time I used a piece of scrapbook paper atop a brown A2 card as my base. I then backed the image with deep red and navy cardstock and added some red and gold bent wire swirls to match those in the background paper.  The inside sentiment is computer generated with a font named Asiyah Script. I mounted it atop a scrap of the background paper on the front of the card, then sprinkled both the front and inside of the card with several sparkly gold stars.

A while ago I discovered a wonderful blog named Sweet to the Soul that occasionally offers free bible journaling digis. I loved this John 8:36 option and have used it to make several cards. For this one, I added a few highlights of purple and fuchsia to match colors in the piece of scrapbook paper used as the background for the card. I added a silver chart with a strip of silver string and finished the card with silver photo corners. [I did try to provide the link to the freebie, but it looks like this one is no longer available. However, there are several items available at very reasonable prices. You can find them HERE.]

My final card for this post features a beautiful digi from Cute As A Button named "Peacock Mermaid." I knew that I wanted to try to create the gorgeous mermaid's image in the mirror, so I printed off an extra copy that I had flipped after copying. [This is one of the many reasons that I like using digital images. They are so easy to manipulate.]  After printing the images I colored them with Spectrum Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. When coloring the images, I realized that I'd colored over a small but very important detail that I didn't notice at first glance. She is combing her hair with a three tined metal fork, which Arial called a dinglehopper in The Little Mermaid movie. Since I'd colored over it, I tried recoloring it with a silver marker, but it didn't work. So, I cut two forks from a scrap of silver cardstock and inserted them into a few slits that I cut into the digis [full size and mirror reflection.] I cut the oval shape from the inside of the mirror and taped a scrap of vellum over the hole. I then positioned the reflected image under this vellum and taped it in place, creating the look of a well-weathered mirror.  The sentiments are both from a Bugaboo digi set named "Under The Sea."
