GD for TC

I love the intriguing stamping opportunity called "Twofer Card Challenge" which requires the use of the exact same stamp or die to make two cards with distinctly different designs for two different occasions. So I was thrilled when my card was selected as one of the winners in the May challenge. [Hence, the title for this posting GD for TC which stands for "Guest Designer for Twofer Card Challenge"!]

The July Challenge is called named "Garden" and I used two solid Posh Impression wood mount stamps to make my two cards.

The first features a unique fold with a center oval "window" that displays a beautiful garden scene from an upcycled calendar. For this card, I stamped the images on scraps of paper and fussy cut them before adhering them to my card with foam tape to add some depth. The sentiment on the front is a freebie from Handmade by Paula and the inside sentiment is from a Whimsy digi set named "Vintage Sentiments."  You can find it HERE [for just $3.]
An added note- I had hoped to provide information on how to make this card, but it took me quite a while since I was using a card I'd received as my template and couldn't bear to take it apart to trace. I also didn't know the name of the technique so even spending a long time on Pinterest and Googling didn't provide any tutorial. Then... a sweet paper artist named Jill left a comment calling it a Tunnel. I immediately created my card after receiving a card that included that technique and I wanted to direct people to a tutorial but after spending a good half hour searching I couldn't find it. After seeing your comment, I immediately googled "Tunnel Card" and found a great link HERE. [Thanks so much, Jill!]

For the second card, I stamped the rose image onto a Thank You card from a boxed set. I developed a simple mask by stamping the image onto a post-it note, fussy cutting that image and attaching it to the rose before stamping the leaves. I repeated this a few times and did the same on the envelope to make a wonderful set.  I save the masks for later use by attaching them to the stamp with a rubber band. [I actually stamped the entire box of cards and matching envelopes to use as a bridal shower gift for one of my nieces. I left the inside blank so that she can add a nice note to each, and added a sheet of 20 pretty boutonniere stamps. A pretty and personal gift that I think she will appreciate.]

  3. How beautiful these cards are...they're so fabulous not sure which one is better so I'll choose both. LOve the surprise of the framed oval on the inside. And your gift box of cards is going to be so welcomed by your niece. Handmade is so much better than purchased at the local drug store.

  9. Hello, Kathy! First of all, I'm so happy to have you as our guest designer! As for your cards, I'm very inspired to search out a boxed set of simple notes and dress them up as you have! I know I've seen some very inexpensive plain and simple sets. It's so nice to have some of the work done for you. Yours turned out absolutely beautiful and they make a lovely gift for your niece, along with the pretty postage stamps. Your hello card has a fabulous fold which looks simple enough for me to want to try. Great way to upcycle! You've done such a lovely job with your garden Twofers!

  12. Kathy, glad I could help you with the name of your card fold. I had made several of those years ago, but had forgotte where I had found the instructions...so I checked Split Coast stampers and there was the tutorial that I used for my tunnel card. You have inspired me to make another one.
Thank you for becomming a "follower on my blog, and I have started following you too... can't wait to check out your other cards!
