The wecraftcards challenge this week was to create a card that reflects a favorite book from childhood. I mainly remember hearing Fairy Tales- the Princess and the Pea, the Dancing Princesses, Cinderella, etc. Then I remembered that I had a few sentiment digis from Whimsy stamps that I could use to create a card… and got to work. Decided that I wanted to add a few sweet birds, aka Disney's Cinderella, and the two birds from the Whimsy digi named "N'Ice Friends 2" worked perfectly! Finished it off with some bling and I am liking the result! (Am adding a close up of the card front so that you can see clear, purple and blue rhinestones in various sizes. So pretty!)

Free digi from Power Poppy, who teamed with Kit & Clowder to provide a free coloring class for markers or pencils. I'm glad that the Kit & Clowder class included instructions for coloring white daisies (which means that they are colored with several colors of gray markers, plus I added some cleanup and highlights with a white gel pen!) Find the free coloring class here- www.kitandclowder.com and free digi here- powerpoppy.com/products/kindness-is-the-way I added a vellum butterfly that I found on a freebie link here what-a-beautiful-mess.blogspot.com/2013/04/scraps-of-elegance.html The inside of the card features another vellum butterfly plus a sentiment from a Whimsy stamp digi set named "Vintage Sentiments."
Am entering this card into several challenges including Power Poppy Inspired By Home (white daisies are my favorite and they are often in mason jars on my counters and table during the spring and summer), and SumMoreFun Mood Board (features white daisies).

This sweet image was a freebie last month at Little Scraps of Heaven (LSOH). I did a little paper piecing for the apple and leaves. I made the card for a challenge at wecraftcards Forum called Rock & Roll. The instructions were "Just fold a circle in half and decorate it." I ended up trimming the bottom of the rounded card to stabilize the card. Will be sending this to my MIL next month since she likes sharing my cards with others at the assisted living facility where she lives. I also distressed the edges of the green circle and added shading on the checked background paper so that I could enter this into the Simon Says Challenge "Distress It." Also, am entering it into the August LSOH color challenge, but have subdued the colors with darker shades that are more appropriate for a fall theme.

This adorable image, from a company named Kinda Cute by Patricia Alvarez, is named "Snowman taking photos" (you can find it here- kindacutebypatricia.com) After printing the images I colored them with Spectrum Noir markers and fussy cut them. The background is an upcycled calendar page. After positioning the snow people on the snowy scene, I used an Exacto blade to cut small slits in the calendar page and settled the snowmen down into them, taping them down on the backside. I added a square of foam tape to the backside of the images to secure them to the calendar page. I finished the front of the card with a computer generated sentiment made with the font named French Script. And attached the scene to the card front with double stick tape and silver photo corners. The inside of the card includes a filmstrip die from Marianne Designs, the sweet little snowman in the film strips are a freebie from Kinda Cute named Mini-Snowman, and the sentiment is a freebie from TLC Creations (createwithtlc.blogspot.com)
