Shake It Up

The current WeCraftCards Challenge is to make a shaker card. So… I decided to make a few cards that include creative cuts or folds. I'm going to start with the hardest one-the shaker card.  I really like shaker cards but always have trouble making them. I mainly have trouble getting them to not leak glitter and stars and other assorted sparklies everywhere! For this shaker, I found the perfect image. It's from Bugaboo and is called Scarlette o'Clock. Filled the shaker with red, gold and black hearts. (But most of them are already stuck along the foam mounting tape. A common issue! Ack!)

Wanted to make a card for the current Bugaboo Anything Goes Challenge and decided to make a U-fold card. There are tutorials on Pinterest. This is my fav- beccysplace.blogspot.com/2017/12/tutorial-u-fold-cards.html. I used "Bugaboo Cowboy Fence" digi and made the background with a page from an old calendar. The sentiment is a freebie from TLC Creations- createwithtlc.blogspot.com

My last card for this posting is for the current Art Impressions Challenge. Decided to make a tri-fold using one of Art Impressions images from years ago named "Party Group." It features Cliff, Bernadette and other members of Art Impressions group of Oldies! I used a pre-cut window card that I bought at a local stamp show. I made curtains with yellow vellum, used a scrap of real wallpaper, and cut "wood planks" from patterned paper scraps and glued them to the floor. The sentiment is from my files, printed off via my computer.

  10. Great card Kathy and such fun! I do love the fun aspect of your snippets make.

Shaker cards are always tricky but I did learn a little trick a while ago. I keep a reel of narrow foam tape especially for adding the shaker element to the card- and the two edges of the reel have been swiped with talc which does help with the sticking issues. The reel is then kept in a little poly bag and so far it works! A few manufacturers have produced domed shaker windows in various shapes - MFT is one and I actually have an aperture die and some matching windows as a future prize here! But do try the talc trick. You can also swipe the edge of the foam tape with talc on a cotton bud when it's on the card of course, but I find it's more likely to get onto the acetate that way.

    1. Di, thanks for the great suggestions on making shaker cards. I have a talc pouch I ocassionally remember to use when embossing. Will need to find some narrow foam tape and give it a try!
