Beatlemania

Last week wecraftcards.com/forum hosted a Spring Crop named Beatlemania. The eight challenges were built around Beatles songs. It was a really great chance to try some new techniques and used some new stamps! I've spent the last week stamping up a storm, so will be showcasing my entries over several posts. This is the first.

Eight Days a Week- This challenge was to make a card and using 8 items, no more and no less. I found this really challenging, but then realized that I misread the requirements said "8 Layers"! There is a big difference! I'm thankful that my stamp friends on that site are so friendly and gracious. The host allowed my entry even though I messed up on the directions. I think that the reason is the Bugaboo image "Frame It Happens" is so striking! It comes with two images, one with the sentiment and one without. Was fun to feature it on a bench fold card. (I found the tutorial here- thecraftspa.blogspot.com/2017/05/30-high-tide-centre-box-card-u-fold.html )

Hippy Hippy Shake- This was a 2 part challenge to make a Shaker or Wobble Card plus an Oversized Matchbox envelope (to accommodate the thicker than normal card.) I made a wobble card using a free digi image and sentiment that I found on an interesting site named UselessTrinkets. I say interesting because they have both cute and creepy images (creepy as in zombies and unicorns… with bloody hatchets and chainsaws.) I created  the inside sentiment after doing a bit of research on Narwhals. I thought they were mythical creatures. Well... they aren't. They are very real, living in the Arctic Ocean. And the thing on their head is actually not a horn, it's an eye-tooth that can grow up to 10 feet long! Lastly, these cousins of whales usually live for 40-60 years. Not sure what they do if they get a cavity?!)

Blackbird- This challenge required the use of black embellishment.  Had fun with this one using one a fussy cut Elvis silhouettes and musical die cut Clef from CAS-ual Friday stamps. And, I just had to add a silver crown on the inside of the card because… he IS the King! (I am thinking outside of the box for the CAS-ual Fridays "Boys of Summer" challenge.  I read that his favorite vacation spot was Hawaii... which is in a state of perpetual summer, right?!)

Wanted to enter the current Simon Says Wednesday and Di's Digi Challenges- Weddings/Anniversaries. So, made a card using an old SU castle, plus sentiments that I created on my computer.  Even added a silver ring that I had in my stash of fun stuff that I might one day use. (Note- the inside reads " …and may you have a wonderful “Happy Ever After!” PS- I hope you realize that ”Happy Ever After” is just wishful fairy tale thinking! Since we live in the real world, we hope that you will have many years of wedded bliss, only occasional bouts of wedded stress, and very rare moments of “What were we thinking?!”
