myasperations 5-26-25

I love the new challenge at Double D’s because it features Lily of the Valley, one of my mom’s favorite flowers. I used a beautiful digi from Jans Digis, printed it on a piece of Kraft paper with a musical score, and used colored pencils to bring the bouquet to life! I especially like how vibrant the lily of the valley blooms look on Kraft with white pencil, and how they allow the jar to take on a translucent quality.

Supplies:
·   Background- Kraft brown paper with a musical score in light grey (have had a few sheets of this paper in my stash for years. Source unknown)

·   Bouquet Digi from Jan’s Digis (Lily of the Valley) Sadly, company is no longer in business

·   Colored with Aquarelle Watercolor Pencils

·   Front Sentiment -Eureka Digital Stamp (Happy Mothers’s Day) Currently Not Available

·   Inside Sentiment “A Mother’s Hug…” from a Beccy’s Place Digi Set (My Mama)

·   Frame around inside sentiment-trimmed from a piece of scrapbook paper

·   Sookwang double-sided tape- Available from several sources on the web.

·   All other misc. items and tools from my stash.

Another entry for May’s Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers group (BYSHC) Challenge on FB. This card features lacy panties, tighty-whities, and a sentiment from Whimsie Doodles digi stamp company. Using the sketch as my guide, I sized the digital underwear to fit on the  eight 1 1/8 inch squares. After printing, coloring and fussy-cutting them, I put the card together, using neutral colored patterned papers. The sentiment from the digi set was sized to fit within the final, square. To me, the inside sentiment, “Believe” is a perfect fit for this card, especially when it is embellished by a Sanat cap, perched at a jaunty angle.
An added note- Sadly, Beccy Muir, artist/owner of Beccy’s Place, is discontinuing her digi line on June 30th (she explains the reasons for this difficult decision HERE.) So, if you have plans to add any of her digi sets to your collection, or have any gift cards you need to use, you will need to do that soon. Beccy added a “Digital Stamp Sale” section to her shop, in which she has posted a large number of individual digis and sets from the past, at reduced prices. For example, “The Big Guy” digi set, used on this card, is available for just $1.30, and “Hats Off” is $2.60 (US Dollar) until the end of June.

Supplies:

·   Digi and front sentiment from a Whimsie Doodles digi set (Underwear for Christmas) Sadly the blog and shop closed in 2020

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Inside Sentiment “Believe” from a Beccy’s Place Digi Set (The Big Guy)

·   Santa Hat Embellishment from a Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Hats Off)

·   Sookwang double-sided tape- Available from several sources on the web.

·   All other misc. items and tools from my stash.

My second entry into the Time Out Challenge’s “Winged Things” is a Z-fold card that features butterflies. I used a Fiskars punch I’ve had in my stash for several decades. The lavender mulberry paper adds wonderful texture, and the little silver “Hope” label adds an elegant sheen. Plus, I think it is a wonderful sentiment for a sympathy card. Lavender photo corners provide a bit more color, and an additional butterfly on the inside sentiment pulls the card together. The final touch was sketching antennae on each of the butterflies.

Supplies:

·   Instructions for Z-fold card can be found HERE.

·   Butterfly punch- Fiskars

·   Front Sentiment-Metal “Hope” Label found in a thrift store years ago

·   Inside Sentiment “Heartfelt Sympathy” from Imagine That! (Sadly company is closed)

·   Lavender photo corners available from several web sources (WXJ13 Photo Mounting Corners)

·   Sookwang double-sided tape- Available from several sources on the web.

·   All other misc. items and tools from my stash.
