myasperations 5-18-25

There are three challenges right now celebrating Star Wars, since we just celebrated “May the 4th be with you…” on May 4th. I’m excited to make cards for these challenges for several reasons. Back in 1977, I was college Freshman who had just started dating a gorgeous blonde sophomore, named Rich, and he invited me to see  a movie named Star Wars “on the big screen.” Fast forward to 2025 and you’ll find Rich and I still kinda like each other (actually, we just celebrated our 47th anniversary), and we both still love Star Wars!)
For this card, I used a few wonderful, and free, Star Wars related digital images, and several items from my stash. The sentiments are computer-generated.

Supplies:

·   Clipart of Star Wars Logo Icon- Freebie found HERE on www.freeiconspng.com

·   Yoda digi- A freebie found HERE  on www.rainbowprintables.com

·   Sentiments- Computer Generated

·   Star patterned paper and star stickers- JoAnnes Crafts (sadly recently closed all stores nationwide.)

·   Sookwang double-sided tape- Available from several sources on the web.

·   All other misc. items and tools from my stash.

Colorful Options Monthly Challenge: May Mood Board-Star Wars (I used shades of green and light pink on Yoda)

I spent some time this last week cutting lots of little squares and selecting/coloring images and sentiments to make cards for the Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers group (BYSHC) Challenge on FB. This is my first card using the May sketch… and it is a cute one! (Sadly the Gerda Steiner stamp set that I used is no longer available.)
After coloring the stamped digi, I sketched and fussy-cut small bulbs from bright colors of cardstock, and adhered them to small circles of translucent color “glow” cut from scraps of plastic document file folders. (Note- If you follow my blog, you’ll know that I use these wonderful items quite often. They come in a pack of assorted colors and can be found in the office supply section of most stores, and occasionally in dollar stores. They're cheaper than colored vellum and more translucent. Punches and dies don’t work on these sheets, but they are easy to fussy cut with a sharp pair of scissors. And you can use templates or stencils to trace shapes onto them with a permanent fine line marker. You can adhere the plastic in place with small strips of double-sided tape.) I also taped squares of the colored plastic behind the 8 squares that frame the sketch to add a festive touch!

Supplies:
·   Kitty image and front sentiment is from a Gerda Steiner Designs stamp set Furry and Bright  (set appears to be retired)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers, and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel

·   Inside Sentiment “Ready or not here comes Christmas” from a Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Here Comes Christmas)

·   Sookwang double-sided tape- Available from several sources on the web.

·   Scraps of plastic file folder, other misc. items and tools from my stash.

  2. Your card is perfect for our challenge in so many ways, Kathy. The Yoda image, the starry background, the backwards talking on the sentiments. You nailed this challenge - and that handsome young man. Congrats on your 47th anniversary. Thanks for sharing your card with us at Just Us Girls.
