myasperations 5-27-25

This is my final entry into the MerMay challenge on the Sweet November Stamps (SNS) FB page. This card features an adorable SNS digi image named Shimmer  Redkelp and Otto. Otto, hugging a seashell in the foreground of this card, is the “star” attraction. His mermaid friend, Shimmer, is  also on the card, “waving” to Otto from the ocean!  (I made a card a few months ago that included Shimmer‘s head and upper body as she peeked into a framed beach scene. I’d cropped her tail and was glad I could put it to use on this card. I positioned her one the card, cut a slit in the “water” and slipped her tail into the slit, tilting the tail fins at a jaunty waving angle, and taping them in place on the backsideof the calendar page. I “grounded” her into the water by sketching ripples with a marker, then adding sparkles and water droplets with Stickles. Droplets also fall from her tail fins and are flipped up into the air!

Many years ago, I stumbled upon a source of wonderful digital images, named Little Scraps of Heaven (LSOH) Designs. Artist/owner, Tricia Moore, is talented and creative, plus the cost of her amazing artwork is so affordable. As a result, I have 200 of her digis in my collection.
I wanted to make another space card to enter into a few current challenges, and this LSOH digi is a perfect choice. I wanted to make the spaceship's “dome” look like glass. So, after printing the digi, I laid a scrap of acetate on it, traced the dome with a permanent black marker, trimmed the dome, and set it aside. After coloring the spaceship and little alien, I fussy-cut around him and adhered the “glass dome” in place. I had trimmed the earth from the digi, so I replaced it with a sticker that looks great peeking through the glass dome. I added texture and metallic sheen to the card by paper-piecing the spaceship with silver paper and used red brads for the dashboard lights. Next, I adhered all the pieces to the starry sky patterned paper and cut swirls of vellum scraps for the exhaust. Lastly, I added the sentiments and star embellishments.
PS- Currently, there are 131 pages (including nearly 2000 LSOH digis and sets/combos) on sale for just $1.50. This digi is included!

I wanted to make a card for the Snippets Challenge, which is a favorite because it inspires me to use up all the little odds and ends I squirrel away in envelopes and folders (mainly because I just can’t bear to throw them away!) I’ve been really enjoying the changing seasons and decided to use up lots of my yellow and orange scraps to create a sunray-laden card. I loosely used a template with instructions I found HERE to make my card. (I said “loosely” because I wanted to use more than just three colors, and also wanted to create rays with less uniform widths, which helped me to use more of my many snippets!) I finished the card with two freebie sentiments that beautifully reflect the card's sunny theme!
Supplies:
·   Sunray Template with instructions found HERE  (

·   Front Sentiment “Happy Day”- a freebie from maxammadestudio.com

·   Inside Sentiment- Freebie from Desert Diva (Sending you Sunshine)

·   Sookwang double-sided tape- Available from several sources on the web.

·   All other misc. items and tools from my stash.

  5. Wonderful cards Kathy - each one so unique. I adore the sea otter - a lot of years ago, Len swam with an almost tame sea otter off the hotel beach where we were staying in Thailand. Magical moments! Love your space ship - very clever with the s\acetate. And of course I think your snippets card is brilliant - what a burst of sunshine! Love it.
