myasperations 5-5-25

It's May 5th, and time for a new challenge at The Path of Positivity! I loved the inspiration for this challenge when I stumbled upon it several years ago. If you'd like to learn more, read the Introduction provided in 2013 by the challenge creator, Lisa D.  Lisa establishes annual goals and 2025's goal is Embrace the Unexpected in our lives.
May's Theme is Make An Unexpected Design and Lisa provides several suggestions that might inspire you for this challenge HEREI used the first option to make this card (using at least three items for each category.)
1) I picked out a brown paper bag.
2) Category 1: Card stock- I grabbed several different plain card stocks that could be used for the base layer, put them in the bag, mixed them about, reached in, chose one, and set it aside.
3) Category 2: Patterned papers/Emb foldersI emptied the bag, put in several different patterned papers (but didn't include any embossing folders since my Big Shot was hiding somewhere in my craft closet.) Once again, mixed the papers, chose one, set it aside.
4) Category 3-5: Images, Sentiments,  and Embellishments- I continued this process with at least three of each of the following: images, sentiments,  and embellies.
5) I was finished,  I had a mixture of items and was ready to create my card... or was I??
Looking at this pile, I was skeptical that I could create anything presentable. However, the process of building a card from that pile of items was truly a challenge, but also surprisingly fun! So, I encourage you to try one or more of them, and you might even win $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs and/or be honored as one of our special "picks"!

My card features a digi named "Tool Belt" from Scribbles Designs, two sentiments, and several items from my stash.  (I have to admit that I added a few items that weren't drawn from the embellishments bag. Actually, they weren't even in that bag! I needed to attach the circular tag from the embellishment pile and found this great strip of brown cord for that purpose. And the inside needed a little "tool box bling" so I found some nails, screws and screwheads at a free clipart site and was able to soon say "TaDa and Done!" )

Here are the piles of items from the five categories used for this card.  I put at least three items from each category into a bag and picked one out and set it aside. The sixth photo shows the actual items that I used to make this card.

I created this card to enter the current ABC Christmas Challenge. The “front door” card front was created with white paper scraps, a copper colored button, and a sentiment label from The Paper Shelter. Flip that layer open and you’ll find an inside flap that holds a sweet little elf reminding us know that Santa’s elves are always busy. The fireplace behind him is all decked out with stockings awaiting Santa’s arrival. Flip that flap back to find a star-decked sentiment.
Supplies:

·   Card front- Sentiment (on door) “Merry Christmas” from The Paper Shelter digi set (Vintage X-mas Designs)

·   Flap sentiment- Elf Digi- Scribbles Designs (Elves At Work) and Fireplace- a freebie from Birdscards.com (Blog now closed)

Friends of Sweet November Stamps FB page is celebrating “MerMay” so I had fun creating cards with their mermaid digis. This first card features a sweet SNS digi named “Capri.” I opted for the digi that had no reflection in the water, and colored the watery base with markers, and the sky with chalks.
I’m entering this card into several challenges including Park Hopping-My Happy Place (I love Mermaids, and the music from Little Mermaid always makes me smile!)
