myasperations 5-14-25

My first card for this post features a little cutie that was a freebie from Tiddly Inks that I was excited to find back when I first discovered digital images. (Although Christy Croll, the artist/owner of Tiddly Inks, closed her challenge blog a few years ago, she still provides several freebies and coloring tutorials HERE, and sells a nice assortment of digis in her Etsy shop HERE.
I had fun coloring this cute digi, except that I messed up on the flower stems in the mason jar. Hence, the little tag that beautifully covers my oops… and also provides a sentiment on the card front! I also tried something new on this card. I added a few swipes with a white colored pencil to add a bit of sheen to her hair. (Not sure if I like it. What do you think? I welcome any comments… positive or negative!!)

Supplies:
·   Digi- Tiddly Inks Thankful Heart Coloring Page (retired but a similar free digi featuring Wrynn and flowers can be found HERE and other digis available on their Etsy Site HERE)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Front Sentiment “Thinking of You”- Victorine Originals Digis (Company no longer in business)

·   Lavender photo corners available from several web sources (WXJ13 Photo Mounting Corners)

·   Sookwang double-sided tape- Available from several sources on the web.

·   All other misc. items and tools from my stash.

A few years ago I found a wonderful challenge on the Sweet November Stamps (SNS) FB page. They offer a monthly challenge, but in May, they offer an additional special challenge named Mermay! This sweet digi was provided as a freebie to those of us that entered several cards into the Mermay challenge. I’ve entered the challenge every year since, because I like mermaids, I love SNS images, and…. well… I like freebies!
For this card, I printed Brooke and colored her in lovely shades of pink, fussy-cut and adhered her to wavy patterned paper. To highlight the little beauty, I trimmed an oval from a piece of aqua colored plastic file folder and framed her within the oval “window.”  (Note- If you follow my blog, you’ll know that I use these wonderful items quite often. Sometimes called document file folders, they come in a pack of assorted colors and can be found in the office supply section of most stores, and occasionally in dollar stores. They're cheaper than colored vellum and more translucent. Punches and dies don’t work on these sheets, but they are easy to fussy cut with a sharp pair of scissors. And you can use templates or stencils to trace shapes onto them with a permanent fine-line marker. Adhere the plastic in place with small strips of double-sided tape, or use a larger piece if you cover it with a sentiment or embellishment.)
Finished the card with a bit of bling and  sentiment from a great set that is just $1!)

This card’s sweet image is a freebie from illustrator and children's book author Elizabeth Dulemba. This talented and generous artist has created hundreds of digis and coloring pages that she offers for free download!  (You can find this digi image HERE.) I loved coloring this adorable little Princess Leia and her furry Chewie pal with Spectrum Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen.  I added some bling to the card with silver and gold star stickers. (I like to upcycle the part of the sticker packet that is often tossed- the shiny or sparkly edges around each of the stickers. Use a sharp scissors to fussy-cut around a star. Then separate it from the white backing to add a fun star outline shape on your creations! I shared a close-up of the sticker packet to show what I mean.)
