myasperations 12-3-21

It’s Friday and time for the Colour Crazy Challenge. This challenge is “Anything Goes” but it adds a requirement; the creation needs to include coloring in “any colouring medium you like, onto any project you like, and in any colours you like.” I’ve never outgrown my love for coloring… which is why making cards is stress therapy for me!
This week's sponsor is Dr. Digi named Knitty Nora. The contented look on Nora’s face as she knits really speaks to my heart. My favorite stress management technique is coloring… so a few hours in my craft room adds contentment to my life! I printed the image twice on both white cardstock and on patterned paper.  As you can see in the photo of the chair, I added shading with a few markers and highlights with a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen and a white colored pencil.  I then colored Nora with the marker and white gel pen. After I fussy-cut the colored images, I paper-pieced them,  layering the many sections with foam tape to add depth. A tedious process, but I do like the final card!
Note- I embossed some lovely mauve cardstock to use as the background of this card, but didn’t note the brand. Now I can’t find it! (That will teach me not to quickly clear my craft table without thinking just where I was putting things away!) I think it’s from Cuddlebug or Darice and it’s pretty old!  but when it resurfaces, I'll try to remember to add that detail.
Supplies:
·   Digi- Dr. Digi (Knitty Nora)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Sentiments- Computer Generated

·   Embossing folder from an unknown source (possibly Darice or Cuddlebug)

·   Cardstock, foam tape, and other items from my stash.

My sweet hubby and I celebrate our 44th Anniversary in a few weeks. I decided to make this gatefold card just for him.  It features a sweet digi from All Dressed Up that reminds me of just how young we were back then… and how thankful I am that he is in my life. I pray that we enjoy many more Christmases together! (PS Several times over the last four decades, I’ve mentioned that we could get matching sweaters. The suggestion was always met with a loud guffaw, grunt, or groan. So… maybe that is what I’ll give him with this card. Maybe I could tell him that is the traditional gift for a 44th Anniversary? But... I just googled it and guess what the traditional gift for this milestone year is? Groceries! Ha!)
Supplies:
·   Digi- All Dressed Up (Christmas Couple)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Plaid patterned papers- Hobby Lobby

·   Inside Sentiment- A freebie from birdscards.com (Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas)

·   Gate Fold Instructions found Here  or Here (YouTube)

·   Piles of gifts cut from Christmas tags found at a thrift store (90% off!)

·   Cardstock, a strip of red satin ribbon, and other items from my stash.

My final card this posting is another gatefold card, but this one includes a flap to hold a wonderful handmade winter embellishment. The card also features several upcycled items plus some white flocking (that I’ve had since I owned a stamp store over 20 years ago!) I used the flocking to add texture to the pompoms on the two hats (which are from a set of five different hat shapes/styles) from Scribbles Designs.

Supplies:

·   Digi Hats (on front and inside, from a set of 5)- Scribbles Designs (Winter Hats)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Blue Snowflake and Plaid Paper- Echo Park 12x12 paper

·   Front Sentiment ”Celebrate Winter” (upcycled from the edge of Echo Park 12x12 paper)

·   Large Snowflake on card flap (upcycled on acetate package from wool socks)

·   Blue snowflakes and inside Sentiment and from a Sticker set- Hobby Lobby

·   Cardstock, red snowflake paper, small snowflakes, and white flocking from my stash.
