myasperations 12-12-21

The Double D’s Challenge has been a favorite of mine for several years… and I was excited when I saw the inspiration photo for Diane and Darlene’s “Christmas Joy” theme. I was able to get three cards created, but because of a few staff crises at work, I almost didn’t get them posted in time! (Ended up posting two of them to Pinterest so I could get all three entered then linking back to this post for details.)
The first features one of my all-time favorite digi sets from Beccy’s Place named Seasonal Windows. I love Beccy’s pre-coloring on the winter window, so decided to print off that option. The addition of a bit of extra shading and highlighting on the bricks and candle, some sheen (silver photo corners) and bling (Stickles on snowy surfaces), sentiments, and a puffy heart sticker finished off the card.

Supplies:
·   Digi- Beccy’s Place Digital Stamp Set (Seasonal Windows)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Front Sentiment- “Joy to the World” from Beccy’s Place Digi Set (The Nativity)

·   Inside Sentiment- “Softly Gently…” Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Pointsettia 2)

·   Silver photo corners available from several web sources (WXJ13 Photo Mounting Corners)

·   Stickles- Star Dust

·   Glossy Accents- used to add “glassy finish” to the windowpanes

·   Puffy Heart Sticker-Sticko’s

·   All other items from my stash.

My second card required some fussy-cutting to turn a beautiful rocking horse from patterned paper into a tree ornament. The word “Joy” (which the challenge requires) appears in the sentiment on the card front. The floral embellishments on the sentiments were also fussy-cut from patterned paper. A scrap of vellum placed beneath the rocking horse helps it stand out a bit, and the red ribbon hanger and bow adds another shout of color to the card. So fun!
Supplies:
·   Rocking Horse-Fussy cut from Dare2BArtzy paper (Merry and Bright Variety Pack)

·   Front Sentiment- Freebie from LoveSVG.com (May Joy Fill Your Home)

·   Inside Sentiment- “Christmas When All Roads Lead Home” from Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Home for the Holidays)

·   Floral Embellishments on sentiments- Fussy cut from Dare2BArtzy paper (Merry and Bright Variety Pack)

·   Cardstock, vellum and Christmas tree patterned paper from my stash.

My final card employs a technique- called eclipsing- to weave the word “JOY” into the card front. The sweet Baby Jesus digi, from Krista Smith (the artist who created the stamp line named Saturated Canary) is on sale this month so you can nab it now for just 90 cents!
Supplies:

·   Digi- KristaSmithStamps (The King)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers, Sakura Gelly Roll white & silver gel pens

·   Lettering Template for JOY- Computer Generated (Font-Britannic Bold, size 220)

·   Eclipse Technique for Lettering found HERE

·   Starry Background- Polkadoodles bundle-on sale for $1-(USA 4th July Celebration)

·   3-D Sparkle Star Stickers- Hobby Lobby

·   Inside Sentiment- “May Peace…” Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Pointsettia 2)

·   All other items from my stash.

  5. Your cards are wonderful Kathy, you've done a fabulous job as always. I love the extra "frostiness" you added to the winter scene with the stickles, a little bit of sparkle always looks lovely.
Your second card makes me think of beautiful, hand-painted Scandinavian ornaments. Great idea to cut the image from a piece of patterned paper... I always forget to do things like that, so thank you for the inspiration.
The last card in your post is very sweet, I love that little image. I also love the technique you used to add the word to your card, what a great effect!
    Cheers,
    Beccy
