myasperations 10-8-21

It’s Friday and time for the Colour Crazy Challenge which is “Anything Goes” but adds a requirement; the creation needs to include coloring in “any colouring medium you like, onto any project you like, and in any colours you like.” I’ve never outgrown my love for coloring… which is why making cards is stress therapy for me!!
This week's sponsor is Rachel Vass Designs and my DT card features a family of bears and two sentiments from a  set named Bear-illiant. I printed the bear images onto kraft brown paper, added a bit of color with Spectrum Noir Classique Markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. The sentiments are also from the digi set (except that I added hand-sketched punctuation to turn the front sentiment into a question and added a bit of excitement on the inside of the card with an exclamation point.) I made this for my nephew and his wife, who just adopted a new little cub! She joins two sisters who love dressing up. So… the big sisters, and even the new little cutie, are all dressed up as princesses! Even their momma gets a little bling with rhinestone earrings. So fun!
Supplies:

·   Digi and sentiments- Rachel Vass Designs Digital Set (Bear-illiant)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Sparkly Crown Stickers- from JoAnne’s Fabrics and Hobby Lobby

·   Black and Red Heart patterned papers- Hobby Lobby

·   Heart stickers, scraps of ribbon, cord and tulle, and other items from my stash.

One of my favorite challenges, in which I’ve participated since starting my blog in 2017, is Double D’s. Blog owners, Diane and Darlene always pick interesting themes with wonderful inspiration photo boards. The current one features Owls and/or Pumpkins. I decided to make a rocker card using a sweet digi from All Dressed Up named Little Pumpkin! Bright fall colors and the interactive card style give it a festive feeling. After all, October is my favorite color! And this digi allowed me with lots of freedom to add patterns on her hat, dress, scarf, and even boots! I’m entering it into several challenges including the Lift Challenge (creating a round card with cardstock as the rocker base, topped with a half-circle of vellum. I’ve always liked making rocker cards, and love using vellum… so I loved learning this new technique! Although the back of it is not very professional. I'll need to work on that!) and Outlawz Sunday Challenge (the card has little sunflowers at the base of a few of the pumpkins.)
Supplies:

·   Digi- All Dressed Up (Little Pumpkin)

·   Rocker Card Instructions, (3 versions) found HERE

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Sentiments- Power Poppy Digital Set (Autumns Opulence)

·   Patterned papers, vellum, cardstock, and other items from my stash.

A weekly challenge that is near and dear to my heart is offered every Monday at the wecraftcards forum. I met the members back in 2012 when I joined a Papercrafts Magazine Forum. I soon discovered that winning prizes was fun but getting to know the wonderful people was the greatest treat. When the sponsor closed the Forum later that year, one of the members offered to sponsor a site so that we could keep meeting. Almost 10 years later a small number of us continue to meet regularly to share stamping techniques, support and encourage each other, and even provide small prizes. They are such a great group of people, and I still continue to learn from them. This card is an example. It features a technique that was totally new to me- creating a “specimen” mounted between two small pieces of acetate. I used one of the instructional video links provided by the challenge host, plus items drawn totally from my stash to create this card:  an upcycled scrap of an October calendar page; two snippets of patterned papers (brown/rust leaves and vintage invoice); two word stickers; black and fall leaf Washi tape; small pieces of acetate; and a realistic butterfly 3-D sticker that I picked up at the local dollar store a while ago. (I separated the two-piece layered sticker, then adhered the two images back-to-back to create the front/back image for the specimen card. Easy-Peasy!)
I am entering my card into two additional favorite challenges-Pixies’ Snippets (I was able to use several bits and pieces of patterned paper and acetate, too!) and The Butterfly Challenges (my card includes a butterfly and one of the current themes: two patterned papers.)
Supplies:

·   Butterfly stickers- from our local Dollar Tree

·   Specimen Card Instructions- there are many examples on Pinterest, my favorite is HERE.

·   3-D butterfly stickers from local Dollar Tree store

·   Word stickers, acetate, upcycled calendar page, cardstock, washi tape and patterned paper from my stash

Great wobble/rockercard with the autumn scene. Maybe next time, for the back of your card, you could stick the same forms to make it look better ;-)

  7. Always a pleasure to come and see all your cards especially the one for the butterfly challenge. I have had those butterflies in the past and find them very useful for adding a bit of 3D onto an otherwise flat card. Thankyou for coming and spinning the butterfly wheel with me. hugs Mrs A.
