myasperations 10-1-21

Once again I’m apologizing to a few of the wonderful companies where I serve as a DT. Last weeks 72-hour workweek, and late posting, was followed by another long week (this time 75 hours) finishing up my third grant in a month. For a grand total of $375,000 I think we have ith a good chance of getting at least two of the three! (Prayers appreciated!)  I also just completed a mandatory three-day ZOOM training this week for a new suicide prevention program that my staff and I are launching this fall in a local high school. I am hoping life returns to some kind of “normal” soon. My first attempt at that normalcy is to get these three cards posted before I call it a day!

My first DT card is for the Wednesday (Sept 29) Challenge at Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge Blog where challenges are also always Anything Goes and prizes are awarded from one or more sponsors.  Stop by to check it out!  My card features a magical digi from The Paper Challenge. I used an upcycled calendar page as my background, using a scrapbook stencil and a few grey markers to create the moon behind this scene. (The circle-shaped scenery on the inside of the card is a section I cut out of the calendar page. The resulting hole is behind the moon so it wouldn't show.) The sentiments are both from Beccy’s Place Digi sets.
I’m entering this card into several challenges including The Paper Shelter (I have heard that an owl can be trained like a falcon. So… I’m thinking that being an owl whisperer can be considered an activity, hobby or even a job?)
Supplies:

·   Digi- The Paper Shelter Digital Image (The Owl Whisperer)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers, Sakura Gelly Roll white & silver gel pens

·   Front Sentiment “Hello Friend” from Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Spring Tulips) Also available in cling-mounted

·   Inside Sentiment is from Beccy’s Place digital set (Hello Sunshine)

·   Inside Sentiment - We Are 3 Christmas Sentiment can be found HERE.

·   Upcycled calendar page (background), star stickers, and other items from my stash.

My next DT card is for Sheepski Designs October Blog Challenge. This month’s theme is “Hot and Cold Colors.” I decided to use one of Sheepki Design’s wonderful gnome digis named “Vlad n Mia.” Combined with a freebie from the Sheepski FB page, plus an assortment of hot colors (red, orange and yellow) plus cold ones (greens and blues), I created a wonderful Halloween scene. The speckled background paper is actually scraps of vinyl wallpaper from a sample book I got for free from a local paint store. (They often give them away when they get new ones. Just ask!) The little leaves were cut from vinyl wallpaper border from the same samples book. And the orange oval layered behind the sweet scene is cut from a plastic index divider sheet. (If you’ve followed my blog you’ll know that I use these wonderful gems A LOT! They are sometimes called document file folders- come in a pack of assorted colors and can be found in the office supply section of most stores. I’ve even found them in dollar stores. They're cheaper than colored vellum and more translucent. Punches and dies don’t work on these sheets, but they are easy to fussy-cut with a sharp pair of scissors.)
Also, stop by the Sheepski Blog to learn more about the monthly challenges and have a chance to win some wonderful digis created by artist Andrea Norris!

My final DT card for this post is for the 1st of the month challenge at  QKR Stampede. This time I used a sentiment digi from Eureka Stamps. My cards usually involved some kind of coloring (markers, chalks, etc.) but sometimes I like to just have a sentiment as the focal point. For this card I used this wonderful digi, plus lots of music-themed paper scraps, to create a card for a staff member who is a college student blessed with amazing musical talent- she is a first-chair violinist!
I’m entering this card into several challenges including Cute As A Button’s- Things with Wings (hymns like Amazing Grace and carols like Oh Holy Night truly can make my spirits fly!)
Supplies:

·   Digi- Eureka Digital Stamp (God Gives Us Music) Also available in unmounted or cling-mounted

·   Pioneer Black Photo corners- available from several sources

·   Music background and printed vellum- Hobby Lobby

·   Heart paper -Hobby Lobby (red embellishment on sentiment is cut from the paper)

·   All other items from my stash.
