Weekend Creations

Had some time today to create my final card for the Double D Challenge- Pine Trees/Pine Cones. It provided me with the opportunity to use a Memory Box die that was gifted to me by a friend I’ve met through a few challenges. I’d noted that was slowly building a collection of dies. But, since my sweet hubby is disabled, my craft budget is pretty tight. A short time later I received a packet of dies from this friend. It blesses my heart every time I use one of them! This is the first time I’ve used this one… which means I also get to enter it into the NBUS (Never Before Used Stuff) Challenge! So fun! The Happy Christmas die from My Favorite Things is also new. I won it in a challenge a short time ago. So this card was so much fun to make.  That said, it was also a challenge. No matter what I did, the pinecones looked a like little baked potatoes to me! I finally checked with my hubby and he said he knew they were pinecones, but suggested adding some shading might help. That did help a little, but I finally decided to see if a dusting of snow might help. I am providing photos of both for you to compare. Please tell me which card you like best. Thnx!

It’s also the 15th of the month time for the challenge at QKR Stampede. Stop by the challenge, which is always “Anything Goes” and several prizes are awarded. Maybe you’ll be inspired to enter a card or two yourself?
I’ve made two DT cards for this challenge. The first features a beautiful Oak Leaf Wreath, that I created by paper-piecing the leaves with green and orange patterned papers. It’s a little tedious, but I like the depth that it adds to the finished card. The striped background is made with a stencil from Printworks that I’ve had in my stash since the late 80’s. (I almost forgot I had it… until I was trying to figure out how to add some color to this background… and remembered this item.
Supplies:
·   Digi- Eureka Digi (Oak Leaf Wreath) Also available in unmounted or cling mounted
·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen
·   Sentiments- RG Ave Fall & Autumn Greetings, Newsletter Freebie (no longer available)
·   Assorted background papers from my stash
·   Printworks Stripe Stencil (no longer available)
·   Ink pad and sponge from my stash

This second card that I created for the QKR Stampede challenge is being sent to a dear friend. I hope that the inside sentiment helps her to know how special her friendship is to me! I love the digi on the front of the card, too. The sweet little leaves were upcycled from a few decorative self-adhesive photo corners I’ve had in my stash for several years. (Wish I could find more of them… but even a web search didn’t help!)
Supplies:
·   Digi- Eureka Digi (Tree Losing Leaves) Also available in unmounted or cling mounted
·   Digi- Eureka Digital Stamp (When I See) Also available in unmounted or cling mounted
·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen
·   Assorted background papers and mini-fall leaves from my stash
