Beautiful Cats!

I recently won a challenge at the Do-Al[l] Creative Challenge and was thrilled to have the chance to pick up a few amazing digis from a shop that was new to me named Doortjes Digi's. The current challenge is named "Black, White + Another Color" and I was asked to be a Guest DT using one of my new digis. I chose this sweet image named Two Cats, coloring the two felines with just B&W and a bit of pink. A die-cut sentiment and a spattering of puffy hearts finish the card.  Why don't you stop by Do-Al[l] Creative Challenge to check it out, and maybe you'll be tempted to enter the challenge yourself?

Supplies:
·    Digi- Doortjes Digi's (Two Cats
·    Love Die- Taylored Expressions (no longer available)
·    Colored with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

I needed a card for the current Snippets Challenge, and a card I found on Pinterest that inspired me to make a flower-shaped easel card. I didn’t have the dies that were used so instead sketched out the large flower shape and created the card base (you can't tell in the photo, but the top of the flower is on the fold. Also, the coloring is a little off. I took the photo in direct sunlight... because it is such a beautiful day... and I didn't realize how different the results would look. But, it is nice and bright!) I dug through my scraps and used an assortment of them to add color and texture to the card. The little flowers were hand-sketched, and the leaves were created with a corrugator. I've used this simple technique for many years, but did find instructions from the web to share. (If you have this old stamping tool, you might want to find it and give this a try!) The sweet little butterfly was fussy cut from an old card, and the sentiments are computer-generated. I'm entering the card into several challenges including Outlawz - Festive Fridays  (because I think that any day that includes flowers and butterflies is reason to celebrate!)

My last card for this post is an unusual one for me, since I usually prefer to color my cards and layer on the details. This card uses just a few different colored ink pads and could almost be called CAS!  The card went together quickly with the help of my MISTI (which really does make using clear stamps so much easier, especially layering stamps like this set.) For the water foliage I had used a green ink pad and stamped the image twice before reinking (not sure what that technique is called. I call it “echoing”!) but it looked a bit blah, Instead of restamping with my MISTI, I just added in some shading and additional line with a light olive marker. The final touch was to add a few dots of white gel pen to bring the eyes to life. (I love the pouty look on their little faces!)
