Midweek Creations

It's Wednesday! So time for another challenge at Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge Blog where challenges are always Anything Goes and prizes are awarded from one or more sponsors.  Stop by the blog to check it out! Two of the sponsor’s images this week beckoned to me, so I created two cards.

This first features a sweet fairy image from Hetty Clair named “Flower Boot.” (Note- When you purchase the digi you get two versions of the Flower Boot image, one includes the fairy!) I colored the image with a handful of brights and pastel markers and a white gel pen.  For the background, I found a calendar page with a rustic garden bench and perched the colored image upon it.  I added a bit of depth by printing and coloring an additional copy of the lily laying next to the book and adhered it with foam tape. Computer-generated sentiments and a few butterflies cut from paper scraps completed the card.

Supplies:
·    Digi- Hetty Clair (Flower Boot)
·    Colored with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen
·    Sentiments- Computer Generated
·    Assorted background papers, cardstock scraps, and an upcycled calendar page from my stash

This second features an adorable digi from All Dressed Up named “Hang in There.” Since I love layers, creative folds, and embellies, this card would almost qualify as a CAS for me! I decorated the background with decorative chalks, a makeup sponge, and a stencil cut from a paper scrap to make the wispy clouds, making sure to add clouds right on top of the balloon. I used a white eraser to remove any blue chalk from the elephant and bear, then colored them with Spectrum Noir markers and a white gel pen. The realistic balloon was created with a scrap of a purple plastic document folder. (These wonderful items come in a pack of assorted colors and can be found in the office supply section of most stores. I really like using them on my cards because they're cheaper than colored vellum and are more translucent.  You can write on them with a fine-line permanent marker [which I used to trace the balloon. Sometimes I trim the marker lines when cutting them out. This time I left the outline to help the balloons stand out. The plastic is easy to fussy-cut with a nice, sharp pair of scissors] The front sentiment is part of the digi image and the scripture verse on the inside is computer generated.
Supplies:
·    Digi- All Dressed Up (Hang in There)
·    Cloud template cut from scrap paper, chalks, and makeup sponge
·    Scraps of purple plastic document folder and cardstock from my stash
·    Inside  sentiment- Computer generated

I wanted to make another card for the current challenge at Double D’s, so pulled out another delicate lavender image from my folder of  Graphics Fairy digis (they are all freebies!) In the process, I also found a wonderful vintage key image. I colored and fussy cut the key, then layered it upon patterned papers. A scrap of sheer ribbon and a computer-generated sentiment completed this lovely card. I'm entering this card into several challenges including Bugaboo Stamps Ladies Night (the card has a lovely feminine feeling) and The Paper Shelter Embellishments (sheer ribbon and vintage key.)
