Variety Galore

I don't make many CAS cards, because I usually love to layer lots of stuff onto my card and/or do folds and cuts and twists. So… maybe I have more of a CAC style [cluttered and complicated]? Anyway, I did enjoy making this simple card. The large red heart reflect the frosted red cookie on the current "If You Give a Crafter a Cookie" challenge photo board, and the red plaid paper also reflects the cookies frosting. To make the card I cut a red heart from scraps and adhered it to a scrap of red plaid paper. Then I punched four holes into the card, two on the red hear and one on either side of the heart. I then taped a piece of sheer ribbon to the backside of the card, wrapped it around to the front and threaded the ribbon tails down through the two outside holes [follow the arrows I've sketched onto the extra photo.]  Gently bring the tails up through the holes punched in the heart, pull to adjust to the correct length and tie a double bow. the I liked the look of the red against parchment cardstock, so attached it to an A2 card front. The final touch was to add a tiny die cut "hello" that I upcycled from an old card.  And the best part was that this card took less than 10 minutes to make.

I never seem to have enough cards for guys, so, when I found a few vintage fly fishing lures on a freebie site, I knew I had to feature them on a card. I printed one on vellum, tore around it, then tied a knot in a few scraps of fun fibers and glued that to the lure. I love how the wispy streaks of metallic threads add some texture and realism to the card. I added more realism by using scrap from an old Wisconsin map for the background.  The sentiment on the front of the cars is one that I've had on my laptop for nearly years. [Not sure of the source. I've researched and couldn't find it. If any reader recognizes it, please let me know.] The inside sentiment is one that I created to reflect the playful feeling of the sentiment on the front. Both are computer generated using a fun font named "Chiller."

My final card for Double D’s current Challenge called "The Month Of Hearts" matched the inspiration photo pretty closely. The background paper is actually an upcycled tea box. I discovered this henna looking pattern when I opened the box and just couldn't throw it away. The stamped image is from a Stampin' Up wood mount set from the late 90's. [Not sure of the name of the set.]  Am also entering it into the current Mod Squad Challenge "Spring Flowers" [am thinking we won't see Spring here in the Midwest this year until maybe June??], and Simon Says Wednesday Challenge " Black & White & One Other Color" [in this case, tan. Or, maybe I'll give the color a more exotic name like beige, biscuit or …maybe café au lait? Yummy!]

My final card for this week is an amazing, and amazingly easy to make, "Pop Up Shopping Bag" card. My friend, Trudi, featured it as her recent challenge at the wecraftcards Forum and it was love at first sight for me.  The Youtube tutorial that she provided, from "Maymay Made It" provided excellent instructions. [You can find it HERE.] I had such fun making this card and my hubby liked it so much that he picked it as the card we'll send to his Mom for her 96th birthday in March. I had saved some wonderful tissue with metallic red dots from a gift I received a few months ago and decided to add a scrap of it in the bag to hide the DQ and Pizza Ranch gift cards that Rich's mom will appreciate. I love how it looks so decided to use more of the tissue for accents on the front and inside of the card. The outside sentiment is a free sentiment from TLC Creations [sadly, I can no longer find it on their site] and the inside sentiment is a freebie from Desert Diva I raided my stash of paper snippets to add layering of black, metallic gold and tan, plus strips of burgundy to the card. The gift bags handle is a strip of cord that I pulled apart because I like the squiggly look that one strand provides.
