This week's challenge at Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge Blog is sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps. I used their digi named "A Kids View BBQ." Because three weeks of constant blizzards have totally messed up my schedule, I was in a time crunch to get this card made. So, for the second time ever, I used a pre-colored image. To make it feel a little more like my work, I added shading and highlights with Spectrum Noir markers and a white gel pen. I paired the image with a freebie from Dearie Dolls named "Dad's BBQ". You can find it HERE. The sentiments are computer generated. The final touch was to add some translucent red enamel dots and black mini-rhinestones.
Penny's challenges are always Anything Goes and prizes are awarded from one or more sponsors. Stop by the blog to check it out! http://pennyschallenges.blogspot.com/ Am entering this into several challenges including Bugaboo's Photo Inspiration [my card includes red, white and several shades of grey, plus I think there is chicken on the grill!!]

Made this card to fit into two challenges this week, SS Monday's "Vintage" and Double D's Mood board " Pink and White". I used the typewriter from a retired Stampin' Up set named TapTapTap, colored it several shades of pink and fuschia with Spectrum Noir markers. A few scraps of fun paper and computer generated sentiments finish the card.

For my third entry into the If You Give a Crafter a Cookie challenge that features baby themed cookies, I used a sweet freebie image from Beccy's Place named "Quilted Horse." You can find it HERE. I paper pieced the little cutie and added sentiments from a few retired Printworks stamps.

This month's challenge at Little Scraps of Heaven [LSOH] is "What's Your Fav?" They have so many wonderful images that it was hard to pick just one. So I'll just say this is my first "fav" as I'll be making more cards before the end of the month with other LSOH images. I love this cute image from a digi set named, "Love Bots." (You can find the set HERE for just $1) I used the paper piecing template that comes with the set and fussy-cut the little bot from dark grey and metallic papers. For the background, I used some pink chevron paper plus a wonderful pattern of monochromatic gears printed on regular copy paper using the free digi that I found HERE. The sentiments are from a great digi set designed by Beccy Muir at Beccy's Place. I printed them on vellum and colored in a few of the words to add some contrast. The balloon on the front was made with a scrap of a red plastic document folder. These wonderful office supply items come in a pack of assorted colors and you can find them in office supply stores. [They're often cheaper than colored vellum and are more translucent. You can write on them with a fine-line permanent marker and they are also easy to fussy-cut with a nice, sharp pair of scissors.]

My final card was inspired by a card that I saw on Pinterest and the large assortment of rhinestones that were in my sweet mom's craft stash. The hardest part of making the card was arranging the bling. Was thankful that mom was such a packrat of all things sparkly.

You did a great job making the pre-coloured image your own Kathy, the shadows and little white highlights are a nice touch. I really like the apron image on the inside and the fabulous sentiment.
ReplyDeleteLove the vintage, pink typewriter, it looks wonderful on your card. What a fantastic mood board to work with... you did a great job interpreting the vibe.
The paper pieced horse on the third card you made is super cute Kathy! You must have spent quite a long time cutting out all those little pieces, but the end result was definitely worth the effort.
That little robot has the sweetest eyes! What a cutie. I love the way you've pieced this one together too, it's such a wonderful design. Great idea to use the folder for his red balloon, it's perfectly translucent. I like the additions on the inside of the card too.
Your final card reminds me of a wonderful piece that my MIL has in her house. It's made up of old pieces of family jewellery that have been arranged inside a frame. It's mostly white and cream and made up of pearls and semi-precious stones... it's really very beautiful and must have taken such a long time to design. You've done a marvellous job with yours Kathy, and what a lovely way to use some of your Mum's craft stash.
Cheers,
Beccy
