Valentines

My final entry into Simon Says Monday Challenge was fun to create. I was inspired by a Pinterest photo of butterflies made with key charms and Graphic 45 papers [You can find it HERE.]  The background is made with free Valentines subway art [You can find it HERE.]
a scrapbook "Cherish" sticker, and small bronze frame. I sketch the butterfly wings onto scrap paper to make a template, then upcycled the February page from a fridge magnet mini-calendar that I've had in my stash for many years, and added a layer of pink vellum. Finished the card with a few little pink hearts cut from vellum scraps and a puffy heart sticker. Have never made a card like this one before, but I really like the way it turned out. [Am also entering this card into a few other challenges including the A2Z Challenge, reflecting the hearts, plus pink and grey colors on the mood board.]

I'd found several key charms in my stash, so made a whole flock of the vintage butterfly beauties that I'll be sharing in future posts. For this card, the butterfly is perched atop a
STAMPlorations/Shery Russ digi image, named "Coffee and Dog Roses" that I printed on kraft cardstock. [This image was a freebie for a Bloghop in 2017. You can nab it HERE.]
To add a bit more contrast and texture to the card, I used a Sizzlets die that was gifted to me by a generous friend [Thanks, Darnell] to cut small branches from ivory vellum.  The sentiment on the card is from Beccy's Place [True Beauty Set. You can find it HERE.]
[BTW- STAMPlorations is having a big celebration right now that includes a hop and linky party with some great prizes. And they offer five gorgeous free images to help get you started. You can find them HERE.]
Oops- I had knotted a loop of embroidery floss at the top of the key to create an antenna but the two ends of floss hadn't behaved like they did on the other cards that I made. Ended up adding a bit of glue to keep the ends of the floss from fraying and taped them down to dry. Then... forgot to remove the tape.  Oops.
[Am also entering this card into a few other challenges including the current Butterfly Challenge, it fits into the color theme with the color- Kobe- in the roses on the patterned paper, and the theme- knot on the butterfly antennae.]

My final card this posting is a Valentine that I made for my sweet husband. He is 100% Norwegian, so I think he'll love this card that features a Tiddly Inks image and sentiment. They are from a set named "Wryn Viking to You." [You can find the set HERE for just $3.]
The inside sentiment is an old Printworks wood mount stamp that I've had since the late '90s. I colored Wryn with Spectrum Noir markers and a white gel pen. I adapted the card a bit for Valentine's Day, attaching a Jolee's Candy Heart sticker atop Wryn's little hatchet. There will be no pilfering or plundering at our home on the 14th… except we might plunder a bottle of wine and box of chocolates!
