Grumpy Horace

It's WednesdaySo time for another challenge at Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge Blog. Penny's challenges are always Anything Goes and prizes are awarded from one or more sponsors.  Stop by the blog to check it out!  This week, I used a digi named "Happy Hour Horace" from our challenge sponsor Dr. Digi. The funny image is colored with Spectrum Noir markers and white gel pen. The sentiments are both from a Dr. Digi set named "SENTIMENTS SHEETS Grumpy." Will be sending this fun card to my hubby's best friend. I know it will give him a chuckle or maybe even a guffaw.

I love this sweet image from All Dressed UP named "Season to Sparkle." I colored it with black and white and a splash of pinks… and am lovin' that color combo. The ornate silver ribbon is from my mom's stash of crafting treasures that I inherited after she moved to her mansion where she gets to coffee with her friends, craft all day and is surrounded by all of her kids' pets that ever loved her. [THAT is what my mom would call heaven. For me, heaven will be seeing my mom again. If coffee, crafts, and puppies are involved… well, even better!]

I offered to make a packet of cards for a friend, asking what kind of cards she'd like. Her response, cards to give her grandkids that she doesn't get to see as often as she'd like. This is one of those cards for her 7-year-old grandson who likes planes. Figured he'd also enjoy a helicopter, especially in a sky full of planes and piloted by cute critters? [The background paper from a mini book I won in a challenge at wecraftcards last year was a perfect fit. [he critters are fussy cut from a little sticker booklet that I picked up at the dollar store.] The helicopter is a freebie from a set called "Planes and Helicopters." You can find it HERE.  The inside sentiment is from a set of those sticker-like thingees that you transfer to your paper by scrape against the backside with a popsicle stick. [A friend gave me a few when I used to scrapbook but I don't have a clue what they are called. And I am not very good at attaching them. Probably if I had the instructions would have helped, right? Heh heh.]  I fussy-cut the plane and helicopter from the background paper.
Am entering this card into several challenges including the Outlaws Tuesday Color challenge [my card includes the required sage green plus also the light blue and reddish orange in the inspiration photo.]

This months challenge at Whimsy Stamps is to create a Love/Valentine's card using any Whimsy image that you would NOT typically associate with Valentines or love. I looked through my Whimsy images and decided to use this cute bear couple, that were kissing under mistletoe [it was a freebie image from Kit and Clowder in December.] This time they are kissing under a full moon onto which I added a bit of texture with grey marker and white gel pen, and a sentiment from a Whimsy digi set named "Vintage sentiments."  You can find it HERE.  Am entering this card into several challenges including the Sisterhood of Crafters "Non-Traditional Valentines" [as required, there is not a flower or heart on the card. I do have to admit that I really wanted to add little hearts wafting up to the mood, but I think that the sparkly stars work just as well. And they also add bling, which is always a good thing, right?] The scripted greeting on the inside of the card is from a Hero Arts digital set named "Words of Love" available from a2zScrapbooking. You can find it HERE

  12. Oh goodness, that kiddie card with the helicopter is so darn adorable. I love everything about it, from the patterned paper background, to the beautifully colored helicopter piloted by little creatures. I just love your creative use of so many different products that we all have in our stash, but never use. Now I'm actually excited to dig through some of my old stickers and see what I can come up with. Oh, and those sentiments that you use a popsicle stick on are called Rub-ons...haha! I never quite got the hang of them either, and they don't improve with time spent in a dusty drawer..just a heads up!
