Mid-Week Flurries

It's Wednesday! So time for another challenge at Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge Blog. . Penny's challenges are always Anything Goes and prizes are awarded from one or more sponsors.  Stop by the blog to check it out! (pennyschallenges.blogspot.com)
This week, I used a digi from one of the challenge sponsors, Little Blue Button. The sweet digi is named "Miss Lilly and Snowman." [you can find it here- https://lbbstamps.com] I made the ridge of trees by tearing a strip of copy paper, laying it across the top of the paper and stamping a tree image from Embossing Arts repeatedly, not re-inking between stamps. The snow drifts were created in the same way, but using a sponge and light grey ink pad with the torn paper. The sentiment on the front of the card was stamped with black pigment ink and embossed with black embossing powder. [The stamp is unmounted, from an unknown company.] The inside sentiment is from a Lili of the Valley digi set named "Christmas Wishes."

My fourth card for the 2018 Fall | Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop uses a cute image named "Latte Lizzie" from a company named Whimsie Doodles that is no longer in business. Some of the first digis I ever used were from Whimsie Doodles and I learned to use alcohol markers with the wonderful tutorials on their blog. I miss them and am glad that I have lots of their images. The wonderful edging was upcycled from a Christmas card that a friend sent to me last year. It inspired me to keep the color scheme simple. And I love how crisp it looks. So fun. The sentiments are computer generated. Am entering it into other challenges including The Cutie Pie, "Winter Layers" [since Lizzie is wrapped in warm gloves, hat and lovely coat.]

The current Di’s Digi Stamps challenge, named "For a Child" inspired me to pull out some wonderful turtle stickers that I found at JoAnn's last year. I love that they are made from felt, and figure that a little friend is going to love that her turtles are soft. [Who doesn't want to pet a turtle, right?] The background is made with torn scraps of cardstock, layered underneath an A2-sized piece of blue plastic document folder.  [If you follow my blog you'll see that I use these often on my cards. You can find them in office supply stores. They come in a pack of assorted colors, are easy to fussy-cut with a nice, sharp pair of scissors and are translucent like colored vellum and cheaper than vellum.]. The sentiments are computer generated.

While I had the plastic document folders out, I decided to make a Black & White card, with a few red highlights, for the Simon Says Monday Challenge.  The elegant paper is from my stash, and the sentiment is a scrapbook sticker. I saw the pattern using the small squares several years ago and had sketched it in my little "idea" book. Am glad that that little book of sketches showed up when I cleaned out one of my storage shelves.
