Marvelous Maude

I've had this wonderful stamp named "Maude" from Art Impressions for some time. I love pairing her with snarky birthday sentiments. This is an example of one that I've had in my files for some time. It is computer generated for this card. So fun

This is my first  entry into the monthly challenge at Little Scraps of Heaven (LSOH.) This month there is a sketch challenge. I decided to use an adorable LSOH digi named "Penguin on Ice." [You can get the digi set, which includes the penguin plus three fun papers, for just $1.50 here- www.lshdigidesigns.com/Item_37/Penguin-on-Ice-digi.htm] I had a hard time making the ice cube look like… well… an ice cube! After a few attempts with shading, I found a photo by googling ice cube and then it was pretty easy. Used patterned paper from my stash and a wonderful snowflake die added an edging to mimic the torn tablet paper in the sketch. The sentiments are both from Beccy's Place digi sets, "True Beauty" and "Smooth Seas." I fussy-cut a snowflake from the background paper and attached it behind the "Hello Friend" sentiment. Then placed a circle of acetate behind it to protect the snowflake because I added a foam dot to the back to make it pop up a bit.

This adorable digi was free this month to members of the Leanne's World 101 Facebook page. Her name is Kandi Kane and you can find her here- www.etsy.com/shop/LeAnnsWorld101] One reason that I like working with digis is that I can enlarge or reduce the size of the image and crop it if desired. For this card, I changed the size and cropped the digi so that I just had the top portion of the image. I wanted attention to be on her beautiful face and delicate hands.  She is colored with Spectrum Noir and white gel pen. I'm not happy with the way her hair turned out… but highlight and shading dark hair is something I'm still practicing. The inside sentiment is a freebie from TLC Creations (createwithtlc.blogspot.com)
