A FUN trio

Last month I made 30 Christmas cards during Beccy's Place Sixth Annual Month of Holiday Cards. It was so much fun making the cards PLUS I was thrilled to win several of the random drawings so that I was able to add many new digi sets to my ever-growing collection of digis. This is one of those sets. It's named "Here Comes Christmas" and I love the reindeers and especially the humorous sentiments that Beccy developed. [I do like that lady's sense of humor!] I attached the reindeer on the card with a foam pop dot under his belly so that it pops up a bit. So cute. [You can see that in one of the pics.] The sheet music is a freebie I found via a web search [www.houseofhawthornes.com/rudolphs-been-hitting-sauce-again.]
Am entering this card into several challenges including the Day 5 Bugaboo Holiday Chaos Event Day, Photo Challenge [there is a reindeer costume in the photo.]

A few months ago I won a challenge at The Paper Shelter and this is one of the sweet digis that I picked out. It's named "There's A Penguin In My Cocoa" and was fun to color with my Spectrum Noir markers and white gel pen. Several challenges that I follow require some kind of gift holder so I decided to use this sweet image on the front of a box card that I can fill with hot chocolate packets. Am going to be providing it to a young friend who is going through finals during her first year at college. Used instructions that I found on Pinterest [find them here- stampingdoc.blogspot.com/2008/11/christmas-book-box.htmlbut added a vertical belly band to keep the treats in place. Since I wanted the penguin to stand out, I just added some grey marker and white gel pen to the gifts in the background. You can see the complete digi in the watermarked image.  And it's on sale right now for just $2.55.] The Belly Band also allows me to enter this item into the current Simon Says Monday challenge "B is for…?" Am also entering it into a few other challenges including The Paper Shelter's 8th Birthday Celebration [Figure my college freshman friend can celebrate with a hot beverage after she finishes each final. I mean, what better way to celebrate than with hot chocolate when going to college in Minnesota. Brrr!]

The Butterfly Challenge is doing something fun in December for Christmas, hence the letter "X" [for Xmas.] Instead of including a butterfly on our cards, we are to include a fairy, elf or pixie and you don't even have to use a Christmas theme. So, I pulled out one of my favorite Fairy sets, Penny Black Fairy Sweet Clear Stamp Set, and had some fun. Used a strip of vintage lace from my mom's stash [one of the wonderful treasures that I inherited from her… besides my love of coloring and crafting], plus some paper scraps and a wonderful "Hello" stamp from Embossing Arts. Although I usually decorate the insides of my cards, this one is going into a gift pack for a friend who prefers to have me make her "note cards" [i.e. blank inside so that she can add the sentiment that she desires.]
BTW- Did you know that X represents the Greek letter for Christ? So, Xmas is actually an appropriate abbreviation for Christmas!

  3. All great cards. Love your very , very precise fussy cutting of Rudolph . Me ? I would probably gotten right round and then chopped a leg off!! Oh my gosh I do so love your fairy card. I find it very difficult to tell if they are Pennyf black or Mo Manning designs as to my mind they are very similar characters. Thankyou for coming and spinning the fairy wheel with me this year. Ps. I didn't know that snippet about X.

    1. I have chopped a few legs, and hands and other things off when cutting. That is why I usually reinforce with a strip of transparent tape on the backside to make it sturdier before I start snipping. Also, your comment about the Penny Black stamps made me do some research. The fairies are actually Mo Manning images. PB must have a licence with Mo to sell her sweet images. I just have one set right now... but would love MORE. Ha.

  16. What a fabulous collection of cards Kathy, you've been busy again.
I like the addition of the sheet music in the background of your first card, very appropriate choice of song. The little heart he's holding on to is lovely, the glitter adds lots of sparkle to your creation. I like the photo you took to show how you popped up his little belly... he actually looks like he's lying on his back trying to make snow angels!
Your second card is absolutely fabulous, what a great gift to send! I love the idea of your friend receiving this thoughtful gift while she's right in the middle of her exams. My husband's family come from Minnesota, so I've heard lots of stories of how cold it gets there... those hot chocolates will be necessary for her survival. The little penguin is adorable and I love the way you kept the background nice and neutral.
Your last card is super adorable Kathy, the image is beautiful and you did a wonderful job with the colouring. I love the addition of the lace, and coming from your Mom's collection makes it even more special.
Well done on all these gorgeous creations!
    Cheers,
    Beccy
