QKR, Eureka and Snippets to the Rescue

For this week's challenge at QKR Stampede, I used a QKR digi image (Q-digi8807 Scarecrow) that you can find on stamponit.net [It's only $2 so how can you not add it to your collection? And, if you've never colored a digital image, this one is a perfect first image. It has bold clean lines and is just fun to color. Plus, there is a kitty!]  I printed the image on white cardstock and colored it with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and a white gel pen. The background is a freebie from swellchel [swellchel.blogspot.com/2011/09/swellchel-does-halloween-free-halloween.htmlI changed the color on the background from black to grey so that it wouldn't overwhelm the detailed scarecrow image, plus found some fun vellum in my stash that had large colored circles. Trimmed around of few of them and layered them under Mr. SC. The added the perfect touch to this fun card.

This card, made with one of my favorite stamps named "Crazy Kitty" is from a company named Biblical Impressions. I was so glad to see that their stamps, and now some digis, are available from stamponit.net [the company that also sells QKR stamps.] The set I have also comes with a paw stamp, but I couldn't find it today so you just get a peeking kitty, not a hanging on for dear life kitty. I found the sentiment on the internet years ago and it was love at first sight. Since I like to give credit when I use an image or sentiment, I spent time researching its source. Didn't find the original author, but it appears that it is actually from the 90's. (cyberslayer.co.uk/jokes/diary-of-a-cat-day-751)

My final card this posting is for one of my favorite challenges named Pixie's Snippets. I love this challenge because it encourages me to use some of my large stash of scraps. For this card, I cut 15 strips of a mix of plain and patterned papers, wove them together and taped them across the underside to secure the weave. Then I clipped the ends into banner points [is that what that's called?] and attached them to an A2 card front. The sentiment is computer generated and printed on vellum. I attached it to the card, then decided it needed a bit of color on the edges to "ground it." So added some snippets of Pepto Bismol Pink and, BAM, was done. [Am entering this card into several challenges including Stripes and Dots at Double D's since the strips create stripes and the hearts are kinda like very elegant dots. Am I right?]
