Four for Thursday

My final entry in the current Mood Board challenge at SumMoreFun is a card made with a beautiful wood mount stamp from Victorine Originals. I chose it because I thought the lettering resembles the Mr & Mrs on the mood board and because Victorine Originals is one of the major lines sponsoring the SumMoreFun challenge blog. Since getting a MISTI I seldom use wood mounts anymore, but this one always stamps a great impression so the card went together very quickly. I stamped the image with cream-colored pigment ink and embossed it with clear powder. Then I sponged two shades of grey and the mauve color from the mood board over the embossing. It didn't have the contrast that I wanted, so I sponged on some rich shades of burgundy, purple and navy blue.  After the ink had dried, I wiped over the thank you with a slightly damp paper towel to remove the cloudy layer of sponged ink, then buffed it dry. The Thank You then popped from the card. I trimmed the card front down a bit, clipped the corners with a seldom used corner rounder punch, and mounted it onto a dusky green A2 card. So pretty.

I'm excited to make my first card for the newly posted Butterfly Challenge that focuses on the letter "B". For my card, I used an old wood mount stamp from Stampin' Up [do I see a trend here?] I wanted a delicate layered look that started by die-cutting a piece of lovely light blue floral print into a large label shape. I wrapped a strip of wide sheer ribbon and a strip of narrower sparkly gold sheer ribbon around the die cut and taped the cut ends to the back. I colored the image with Tombow Markers and white gel pen, then used a scrapbook stencil to trace a circle around the image because I couldn't find my circle dies. [Who knows where they might be hiding?] Added a bow and then noticed a sweetly embossed thank you card that I'd upcycled and mounted the who collection of delicate beauty atop it. The final touch was creating three tiny butterflies from scraps [the blue and dark pink ones are from glittery paper for a little touch of bling] They were tedious, but I love the touch of whimsy they add to the card. I then mounted all of the layers onto a Kraft brown A2 card.  I've always admired Shabby Chic cards but have never quite been able to pull them off. I think I'm pretty close with this card. Oh, I almost forgot- included in my card are two of the colors [baby blue and buff] and at least two of the themes [bow and butterflies, plus maybe the embossed edging on the white card counts as a border?]

This week's Creative Confetti challenge at Power Poppy is to create a monochromatic card with a bit of sparkle. I found some pretty sparkly silver ribbon in my stash and decided to pair it with shades of gray. Clipped a strip of the ribbon and tied a knot in it, spreading out the "wings" to create a simple bow.  The snowflake is a sticker from my stash and the sentiment is computer generated. The inside sentiment is a wonderful wood mount stamp from Denami Designs.

My final card for this posting utilizes a pompom spider that I found in my sticker stash when digging for snowflake stickers. [I really need to reorganize my stashes. They are kinda out of control.] The entire card is made from scraps and stash treasures including Candy Corn patterned paper, dotted swiss and black cardstock scraps that were fashioned into the "Boo" tag, and strips of white tulle that I attached to the card to mimic spider webs. [However, I didn't like the look when they were sticking out every which way, so I knotted all the ends and like the result.] The inside sentiment is a freebie from www.birdscards.com/halloween-card-and-spid-ey-freebies-first-posted-wednesday-september-16-2009
