It's Wednesday! So time for another challenge at Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge Blog. Penny's challenges are always Anything Goes and prizes are awarded from one or more sponsors. Stop by the blog to check it out! (pennyschallenges.blogspot.com)
This week, one of the sponsors is The Paper Shelter [TPS], which is a favorite of mine. One thing that makes TPS unique is that their digi stamp sets include a background image that can be used for each of the main images. [You can see their wonderful collection of images here- www.thepapershelter.com]
For this challenge, the DTs were provided with the digi set named "World Champion." I printed the background in greyscale instead of its original bold colors and added several silver glitter die-cut stars that came in a scrapbook layout set. I colored the image with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, plus added details to the trophy with a Spectrum Noir Metallic silver Glitter Brush Pen. So that the background didn't overwhelm the little hero, I cut an oval from a blue plastic document folder. [If you follow my blog, you'll see that I use these almost as often as vellum… which I use a lot. You can find them in office supply stores. They come in a pack of assorted colors, are very translucent and are often cheaper than colored vellum. Plus you can write on them with a fine-line permanent marker and they are also easy to fussy-cut with a nice, sharp pair of scissors. So, really versatile for things like balloons and to mute backgrounds with color!) I also love the way that the sparkly silver star looks behind the translucent blue. The inside sentiment is computer generated.

For this card, I repurposed a digi image, named "Special Day Ted" from Di's Digis. Printed, colored and cut fussy cut ted to fit along the left edge of the card. The hand sketched the letters for "Boo" attempting to make them look like they were painted, swapping them out for the "Special Day" lettering on the digi. [This digi is currently on sale for $ 2.00 at www.disdigistamps.com/store/p1050/Special_day_ted.html] I used a scrap of paint blotch gift wrap as background, with a layer of vellum so that Boo would stand out. The inside sentiment is a freebie from TLC Creations (you can find it available right now at http://createwithtlc-createwithtlc.blogspot.com/2018/10/halloween-word-art-printable_21.html)

Had fun using this freebie from Gerda Steiner named "Happy Fall" [you can find it here- www.gsd-stamps.com/collections/shop-digital-stamps/products/happy-fall-greeting-card-printable] I colored it with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, chalked the cloudy sky, and used a technique called "Eclipsing" to add some interest to the card. You can find an excellent tutorial here- http://beccysplace.blogspot.com/search/label/eclipse%20card (Actually, Beccy's Place has a huge list of tutorials available. It is my 'go-to' place when I want to learn a new technique or fold. Check it out.) Beccy used a word die on her card. I sketched a leaf template for mine because I wanted the leaf to fill most of the card front. The inside sentiment is a freebie from TLC Creations (createwithtlc.blogspot.com) If you are a regular visitor to my blog you'll notice that I often use sentiments and digis from TLC Creations. Paulette does an amazing job of creating dozens an dozens of great items, plus she has an etsy shop where she sells very unique vintage, floral and other themed digis for card making, scrapbooking and junk journaling.

My final card this post is a simple silhouette of a cat sketched out and fussy-cut from a black envelope [which is much easier to cut than black cardstock.] Her nose is a puffy heart sticker and the background paper was selected because it mirrors the cute little pink heart nose. The sentiment is computer generated.

ReplyDeleteOh I see how hard the bear tried to be spooky but he's not at all! He's so cute and lovely. The scene with the bear painting the colorful boo is so cute! Thank you for joining SSS Monday Challenge.
ReplyDeleteYou made so many great cards but I love your kitty the best(the boys pay me to say that every time I see a black cat. LOL)
ReplyDeleteFabulous set of cards! My favorite, of course, is the What's Mew? kitty card. Great idea to upcycle the envelope. I save mine to do that with, but rarely end up doing it!! Ha. Love the heart-shaped nose....I NEED to remember this idea.
