Celebrations and Adventures

Used this sweet, named "Adorable Cinderella" the Paper Shelter for their current challenge. Added a watch digi (free from olddesignshop.com/2012/12/free-vintage-image-elgin-watch-magazine-ad),  a "Celebrate" sentiment on vellum (from my scrapbook stash) and a couple bits of bling… because a Princess needs here bling!

Since I use digis so often these days, I haven't heat embossed for a while. Was fun to break out some of my old stamps (wood mounts even!) to emboss for CAS-ual Fridays current challenge. For this card I gold embossed a rose wreath from Azadi Earles, colored from the backside with Tombow markers, then added clear glitter glue to the front side of the ribbon. The corners of the pink striped paper are trimmed with a Fiskars decorative scissors. The free digi is from papercraftsmag.com/content_downloads/Heartfelt_Sympathy_Melinda.jpg)

There are currently several Red, White & Blue challenges this week. I decided to make a card with a cross-stitched flag that my mom sewed on denim many years ago to enter into them. Decided to keep the background simple to highlight this beautiful bit of embroidery, adhering a strip of navy blue and one of glossy red cardstock, run through a Darice's embossing folder. I hand-lettered the inside greeting, adding some colorful confetti with an old Stampin' Up set.

I had fun making this card for Double D's current "Nautical" challenge. The stamp is unmounted, from an unknown company. I created clouds with blue chalk, a template made on a scrap of cardboard, a makeup sponge and blue chalk. Found instructions for making the knot on the web. This was something new for me and it took a few tries to get it right. Mounted a strip of some wonderful anchor paper from one of my 6x6 scrap pads onto a strip of cardboard. Then stretched the ends of the knot around the strip and taped them down on the back. Created the sentiments on my computer. The little star embellies were made with small stickers that I adhered to punched stars. For some reason they didn't stick very well, so I sealed them between strips of cellophane tape and then trimmed around the shapes.
