I’m the host for the “Foodie Fun”
challenge at WeCraftCards this week. There are so many foods that I love… but
when I think of having fun with food, ice cream sundaes with lots of toppings
is a fav! This sweet digi from The Paper Shelter, named “The Final Touch” is
perfect for the challenge. I paired it with fun plaid paper, which provided the
color palette for my card; mainly brown, white, red, and green. A digi from a
book named, appropriately, “The Ice Cream Book,” copied from a Dover
Publications newsletter, provides a wonderful backdrop.
A bit more info- I signed up for the Dover
Publications Sampler several years ago and have appreciated regular
emails with a half dozen coloring and activity books, each offering 4-5
pages that are available for a short time as free downloads. This card was
created with one of those free pages. After saving the coloring sheet, I
used my Word program to reduce it in size to fit an A2 card, then printed it
off, and adhered it to the card front at a tilted angle.

I
was thrilled when I learned that a young friend and her husband were expecting
a baby. Wanting to provide a special gift, I offered to make their invitations,
and they said YES! They were decorating the baby’s room with cute dragon-themed
wallpaper, etc. I started creating… and I shared this sample card with them. (I feared I’d get bored with making 3 dozen identical cards, so I offered them a few versions. They opted for the two in the photo below, complete with sentiments. So cute!)
The beautiful rainbow background is from
a favorite FB site for digis, Free Printables for your Junk
Journaling with TLC. (See details in my supplies section.) I found
the baby dragon digi on the web, printed a few of them on pale pink cardstock,
then added some shading and highlighting with markers and white gel pen. I
wanted to make the little bunny stuffie look quilted, so I printed several of
just that part of the digi onto white cardstock, then added patterns (stripes,
dots, small hearts, etc.) and colors. The final touch on my card was to add
some sparkle to the little dragons’ scales with Stickles. So cute!

All your cards are adorable Kathy. You've done such a cool job with the ice cream one though. I love all the elements, especially the book page that's tilted. It adds so much interest. And congrats to your expecting friends! I'm so happy you're doing their invitations. I made a friend's wedding invitations once. I love it when our crafting can be a blessing to others. Thanks so much for sharing with us over at Word Art Wednesday. We really appreciate you!
