I used a Little
Scraps of Heaven Penguin Shaker digi set/template to create this card for Simon
Says Wednesday Challenge “Make it Shake”. I seldom make shaker cards because I always seem to have problems,. They either leak or the
shaker items stick together in clumps due to static electricity. I recently
read that adding sea salt would prevent static electricity and that making an “envelope”
with cellophane would prevent leaking. I tried these options… but couldn’t find
my roll of cellophane so opted for thin acetate. Although my card is cute, it
doesn’t lay flat because the acetate is not very flexible!
I laugh as I type this
because shortly after I became a bride (48+ years ago), my husband gently asked
me if I’d start following recipes instead of making substitutions/adaptations.
He still teases me about some of those first meals, aka "experiments!" We quickly discovered that making meals is definitely not my forte! Within a short time, he started
grilling a lot and basically took over making meals. (This was back when not many
husbands helped in the kitchen, and he seemed to even enjoy it. So it was a win-win for both of us!!)
NOTE- Although
the digi and snowflake papers I used on the card are no longer available, if
you visit the Little Scraps of Heaven (LSOH) Shop you’ll find dozens of other
penguin digis available (plus hundreds of other digis/etc. to use for cards
and/or scrapbooking for $1.50 each (US dollar.) LSOH’s artist/owner, Tricia
Moore, generously offers a monthly freebie HERE
(The current freebie is a cute Valentine
Bunny!) I’m entering this card
into several challenges including Time Out Challenge: Photo Inspireation
(the snowflake patterned papers, their colors, and layering on the card front look similar to Kim’s beautiful handmade bag.)

The sponsor for the February Outlawz Progressive Challenge
is Anne Fenton (artist/owner of Anne’s Art), and I had fun making a Valentine's Day card with her adorable digi named "Sweet Teddy." I colored
Teddy as a Panda Bear to provide bold contrast against the white weathered wood
background and pink accents. I used one of my favorite tutorials from artist Anabel Haines (HERE) to add knitted texture to the sweater with markers
and a white gel pen. Note-I follow Anaabels tutorial closely, except I use a sharp
#2 school pencil with a good eraser to sketch in the lines. Then I add the shading
with markers and finish off with a few light white gel pen highlights. · Digi- Sweet Teddy from Anne’s Art. (This digi isn’t listed on her site, but if interested, you can
ask Anne if it’s available.)

My final card for this post is from Whimsie Doodles, one of the
wonderful shops that introduced me to digital images back in 2014. Although the
shop closed in 2018, I still find their digis to be among my favorites! This
gate-fold card features a Whimsie Doodle digi named "She Has Wings".
Snippets, one of my favorite challenges, is celebrating its 500th
Challenge! Their theme for this great success is “Celebrations” and since I still
had all of my Valentine’s Day card snippets piled on my craft table, I decided that is the Celebration that I’d depict
on my card. I dug through my scraps and found a nice assortment of vintage-looking paper scraps (aka “Snippets”) and doilies, that I thought would fit
nicely with the sweet little angel.
