myasperations 2-28-25

The three cards in this post were all  inspired by this month’s sketch for the Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers (BYSHC) challenge on Facebook. I really like this challenge because it encourages me to use up many of my treasured paper scraps… and also to get an early start on building up my supply of Christmas cards each year!

For this card, I used a digi set from Beccy’s Place named “Gnomes In My Garden.” One of the many things I enjoy about Beccy Muir’s digis is that she gives her characters lots of personality, and even names them. So… please allow me to introduce you to Nigel. On this card he is sharing Christmas blessings by the light of a vellum embellished lantern!

·   Digi and sentiments are from a Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Gnomes in My Garden)

        Set (Peace and Light)
·   Inside Sentiment “May you be Blessed this Christmas….” from a Beccy’s Place Digi Set
        (Peace and Joy)

The cute cookies on this card are from a Beccy’s Place retired digi set named, appropriately, “Gingerbread.” They look excited for the holidays, as do the little gingerbread people embellishing the inside of the card.
An added note- Sadly, Beccy Muir, artist/owner of Beccy’s Place, is discontinuing her digi line on June 30th (she explains the reasons for this difficult decision HERE.) So, if you have plans to add any of her digi sets to your collection, or have any gift cards you need to use, you have several months to go digi shopping. In addition, Beccy added a “Digital Stamp Sale” section to her shop, in which she has posted a large number of digis and sets from the past, priced from $3.00 to as low as 31¢ (US rate.) Since I often use sentiments from Beccy’s digi sets on my cards, I made sure to pay attention not just to the images but also the sentiments in the sets as I filled my cart with these treasures before they are gone forever! (Sad sigh!)
Supplies:
·   Digi and sentiments are from a Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Gingerbread) This set is now available for just $4 [US rate].

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Sentiments- Computer Generated

·   Black photo corners available from several web sources (WXJ13 Photo Mounting Corners)

I had fun creating a nativity card using the sketch plus lots of treasures from my stash! The wonderful image was made with an old, might I even call it vintage, wood mounted rubber stamp from D.O.T.S. (Dozens Of Terrific Stamps.) I love the cute little people and critters in the scene! I used a shape stencil to trace a circle around the stamped image to reflect the sketch shapes. After adhering the night sky paper strips to create the “sky” and grounding the nativity image beneath it. I enlarged the “Joy” sentiment to fit across the sky, fussy-cut the letters and traced them onto vellum. I then traced the scraps of sparkly/holographic clear self-stick laminate from my stash. (See some info on sources in the supply list.)
Supplies:

·   Rubber Stamp Image- “Christmas Nativity” from D.O.T.S. (Dozens Of Terrific Stamps, which I’m pretty sure is no longer in business)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers, Sakura Gelly Roll white, gold, silver, and sparkle gel pens

·   Front Sentiment “Joy” from a Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Snowman)

·   Inside Sentiment- “May the Miracle of Christmas…” from a Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Peace and Joy)

·   Gold photo corners available from several web sources (WXJ13 Photo Mounting Corners)

·   Night sky patterned papers and sparkly star stickers from Hobby Lobby

·   Sparkly/holographic clear self-stick laminate from my stash. (I‘ve seen it on Etsy, and other sources on the web, including Temu. (I’d suggest you avoid buying from Temu as that company that is notorious for stealing stamp/die images, causing hardship to several of our favorite stamp companies. The company is also known to be tied to scams and ID theft cases. Details Here and Here)

·   Sookwang double-sided tape- Available from several sources on the web.

·   Other misc. items and tools from my stash.

myasperations 2-26-25

When putting this post together I realized that all three cards feature digital images/sets from Beccy’s Place! I was blessed to work with artist/owner Beccy Muir first as a Guest DT and then as a “Contributor “ (which meant that Beccy provided me with digis, or clear stamp sets several times to a year to create cards/other items with them!) I always enjoyed working with Beccy, so was saddened last November when Beccy told her team that she would be discontinuing the digital images section at Beccy’s Place at the end of June. (Beccy explains the reasons she has made this difficult decision HERE.) So, if you have plans to add any of her digi sets to your collection, or have any gift cards you need to use, you have several months to go digi shopping. In addition, Beccy added a “Digital Stamp Sale” section to her shop, in which she has posted a large number of digis and sets from the past, priced from $3.00 to as low as 31¢ (US rate.) Since I often use sentiments from Beccy’s digi sets on my cards, I made sure to pay attention to not just look at the images but also the sentiments in the sets as I filled my cart with these treasures before they are gone forever! (Sad sigh!)

The following cards were inspired by this month’s sketch for the Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers (BYSHC) challenge on Facebook. I really like this challenge because it encourages me to use up many of my treasured paper scraps.

This first one features a yummy Beccy’s Place digi named Finn’s Hot Chocolate. Inspired by this months’ Time Out Challenge, I  decked the card out in red and black snowflake patterned papers to similar to the patterns in the photo. It was so much fun to create! I created a handcut snowflake to embellish the card, adhering it behind Finn to focus attention on him!  (One of my sisters taught me to cut snowflakes from copy paper back in the 70’s. I’ve refined the process since then due to practice plus lots of hints and tips on Pinterest..)

Supplies:
·   Digi is from a Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Finns Hot Chocolate)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Snowflake Patterned Papers from Little Scraps of Heaven Digi (Retired- Weekly Freebie in Dec 2017)

·   Inside Sentiment- “Wishing… Sweetest Christmas” from a Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Gingerbread Season)

·   Hand cut Snowflake Embellishment (behind Finn)

·   Sookwang double-sided tape- Available from several sources on the web.

·   Sheer black dotted Swiss ribbon- JoAnne’s

·   All other misc. items and tools from my stash.

This second card reminds me of one of my favorite holiday traditions… baking cookies! One of Santa’s elves looks festive as he preps a pan of gingerbread men to slide into the over. I wanted to add some depth to the card, so printed off a duplicate copy of the elf, and cropped off all but his gloved hands and cookie sheet. I printed, fussy-cut and colored the full elf image AND the small cropped section. When finished, I attached the small section to the digi with small pieces of foam tape.  A side photo shows the result.  A few final touches, cutting the strip of thin red rikrack with an old Pinking Shears I inherited from my sweet mom, and a handful of little gingerbread cookies fussy-cut from patterned paper finishes off a fun and festive card!

Supplies:

·   Digi and inside sentiment is from a Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Making Merry)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Patterned papers (Tis the Season and Gingerbread cookies) from Hobby Lobby

·   Sookwang double-sided tape- Available from several sources on the web.

·   All other misc. items and tools from my stash.

This final card features an adorable digi from Beccy’s Place named Snowman. I love how the little guy is being serenaded by a sweet little bird. Strips of snowflake paper provide a nice backdrop, while a scrap of glittery white paper grounds the card with a snowdrift. After putting the card together I added the final touch by sketching three small musical notes near the little tweet!

Supplies:
·   Digi are from a Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Snowman))

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Front Sentiment- “Ready or Not Here Comes Christmas” from a Beccy’s Place Digi Set (Here Comes Christmas)

myasperations 2-25-25

Finally had some time to create cards for the final three weeks of the FB Fairy Challenge at Sweet November Stamps. I'm not sure what the rest of the week holds, so I’m posting all three here to get them entered into the FB links now. Get ready for some cuteness!

This card features a little fairy named Emaline, joyfully kicking snowflakes, sending them dancing happily!  I’m not sure of the source of the inside sentiment. I found it in a stamping magazine when I was new to stamping (25-30 years ago) and scribbled it into a “sentiments” notebook that I kept back then.  All other items are from my stash.

Supplies:
·   Z-fold Flad Card instructions- found HERE  (I used fold but added a flap large enough to hold sketch)

·   Digi- Sweet November Stamps (Fairwee Snow Flurry Emaline)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Stickles- Diamonds (added to snowflakes near Emaline.)

·   Sentiments- Computer Generated (Source unknown)

·   Sookwang double-sided tape- Available from several sources on the web.

·   Patterned papers, and other misc. items and tools from my stash.

This card features a sweet pair of friends (Piper and her Snowman) enjoying some time in the snow. The background, created with scraps of snowflake papers and glittery cardstock, was inspired by this month's sketch at the Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers (BYSHC) challenge on FB. It also features a fold that is new to me, was fairly easy to make, and the inside carries a surprise “double pop” Sentiment!  A small flurry of fussy-cut snowflakes embellishes the front and inside of the card. A bit of whimsy was added to the card, by tracing cutting Piper’s wings onto vellum, fussy-cutting and attaching them, then adding a thin layer of Stickles to make them pop! I added a snowdrift to the bottom of the card made from a strip of white glitter cardstock. You can’t tell it from the photo, but it adds a nice touch of wintry bling to the card.

Supplies:

·   Gate-Fold Pop Up instructions HERE and a template HERE (scroll to bottom of post).

·   Digi- Sweet November Stamps (Fairwee Piper and her Snowman)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Sentiments- Computer Generated (Source unknown- See write up from last card for details)

·   Sookwang double-sided tape- Available from several sources on the web.

·   Stickles- Diamonds (added to Pipers Wings.)

·   Snowflake patterned papers, white glitter cardstock, a scrap of vellum, other misc. items and tools from my stash.

The Four Seasons Challenge- Anything Goes Winter Feb 2025

I knew I wanted to feature a warmer scene for my final card, and decided to use a really fun Sweet November digi named, appropriately, Slow Ride. The fairy rider looks like she is enjoying her snail friend’s leisurely pace. (I had no idea how to color the snail, so did some web research and found lots of options. A poster found here provided a nice color image of Garden Snail, which inspired the coloring of this little trailblazer. A bit of research told me that snails really do leave a “trail” wherever they go. Since this snails rider is an beautifully dressed fairy, I opted to add some bling to this snail trail with small rhinestones. I also bedecked the fairy with tiny rubies in her lovely elfish ears, and an amethyst on with a sparkly silver (gel pen) chain circling her elegant neck.
I’m entering this card into several challenges including Passion for Markers Challenge: Embellish It (I added rhinestones, plus created corner straps with strips glittery scraps of pretty pastel papers), and Path Of Positivity Challenge (I made this card to give to a sweet little neighbor that always waves shyly to me when waiting for her school bus to arrive. With long hair and a lithe little body, she even looks a bit like the adorable little fairy!)

Supplies:
·   Background scene- upcycled from an old calendar

·   Digi- Sweet November Stamps (Slow Ride)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers, Sakura Gelly Roll white & silver gel pens

·   Chart of Snails used to assist with coloring found HERE

·   Sentiments “You Make Life Sparkle” and  “Hope Your Day is Magical” from a We Are 3 Digi Sentiment set (Sadly, Etsy Shop is now closed)

·   Sookwang double-sided tape- Available from several sources on the web.

·   Rhinestones, scraps of glittery cardstock, other misc. items and tools from my stash.
