I wanted to make another card for Sweet November Stamps (SNS)
challenge on Facebook challenge. The theme is Summertime… and I took the theme
in an unusual, but honest, direction. During my childhood, I spent the summer
holidays in one of three ways: drawing/coloring, hanging out with friends, or
reading. For this card, I opted to go
with the option of reading and used the SNS digi named Jairwee Junie. The stack
of books is a free colored digi, and the background drawing is from TlcCreations,
one of my favorite freebie sites. (Since it is hard to see all the wonderful
details in this background digi, I wanted to provide you with a copy of the
original where you can easily see all of the fairy-tale characters! I wanted to
respect the artist's work, so added a WM. If you click on the link in my
supplies section, you’ll be able to download the original digi.)
I’m
entering this card into several challenges including Outlawz’ Twisted Thursday
Challenge-School Subjects (n school I loved, and
still love, reading), Park
Hopping-My Happy Place (I love Fairy Tales, especially the ones where good triumphs
over evil. So, once again, I was inspired by The Fairytale Forest at Efteling Park), the Cupcake Inspirations: Color Theme Challenge (my card featured a few splashes
of the required colors, Turquoise, Red & Yellow),
and Outlawz Twisted Thursday Challenge- School Subjects (as a child and
teen, I loved reading. Now instead
of reading, I check out Audible Books from our local library and listen while I
happily craft and color for hours! Ahh… heaven!), and also Outlawz Monday Greetings-Happy Summer Holidays (as
noted in the paragraph above, as a child/teen, I spent many happy summers
reading. As an adult, my time off often involves listing to books while
crafting!)

I love sunflowers, so knew that I had to make a card for
a few current sunflower challenges. I used a digi from a Beccy’s Place set that
provides several great “panels” for many occasions. I had fun adding texture
with some items I’ve had in my stash for a while. Scraps of ribbon, an upcycled vellum
butterfly (with bling!) and several scraps of patterned paper help add lots of
color and patterns to the finished card. I also attached a photo that a friend
took of a sunflower field not far from where we live. It always amazes me how
the flowers move with the sun. Their “faces” slowly (almost magically!) turn
from east to west during the day.
I’m entering this
card into several challenges including Inspiration Station’s August Photo Challenge (my card features a butterfly and flowers), The Butterfly Challenge, which
is called “Pick a Row with your Butterfly” (My card featured a butterfly, plus
items from the diagonal row- Stamps/Flowers/ Stripes)

Your first card is a fabulous combination of images Kathy, and a wonderful representation of reading! Your colouring is beautiful, and I love the sentiment you added to the inside.
ReplyDeleteI love sunflowers too. They're such happy flowers and look wonderful when grown en masse... big yellow fields looking toward the sun. I really like how you've coloured yours, the texture is awesome.
I love a bit of plaid at Christmastime, it always looks so homey to me. Beautiful sentiment too, the snowflakes are lovely.
Cheers,
Beccy
Kathy, your first card is a fabulous inspirational image to encourage reading. A book can take you to so many places. Your coloring is awesome. The Christmas Card has that wonderful touch of nostalgia with the distressed plaid. Thank you for sharing your talents with us at Jan's Digi Blog Challenge. Great job!
