I wanted to enter one more card into the current Double D’s Challenge,
and since I had my Origami Dress template out from my last entry, I decided to get
busy folding another one! This time, I created an elegant white and silver wedding dress instead of a cotton summer dress. I wanted more of a mermaid-style dress design, so I used the template for the skirt and experimented with a different top and waist.

It’s the 15th of the month, so I’m
sharing my DT card for QKR Stampede. Stop by the challenge, which is always
“Anything Goes” and several prizes are awarded. Maybe you’ll be inspired
to enter a card or two yourself?
I love how
big dogs that drape themselves over whatever is close by; doorways, furniture,
people sitting on furniture! This mutt looks “ahhhh comfortable” sprawled atop
a sentiment. I made him look extra soft and fluffy by bouncing a juicy blender
pen atop the light tan areas when I was finished coloring.
I’m entering this card into
several challenges including Path Of Positivity: Celebrate
Something Special about your Hero (my hero is my hubby of nearly 45 years. His
name is Rich, and my life is richly blessed because he’s in it! After he graduated from medical school with high
honors, his future looked bright. (Or… should I say “our” future since I
wouldn’t wish the struggle called medical school and residency on any young couple!)
Then, a few years into his medical career he was struck with an illness that no
one could accurately diagnose. He was told it was Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which
in the 80’ s became the “go to diagnosis” when no other reason could be found
for the extreme fatigue and bouts of mental fog and confusion he suffered.
These issues impacted his life so deeply that he feared he might make a mistake with a diagnosis, which could lead to a
patients death. Because of this, he closed his practice. He rested, read a ton of books, and basically became a house husband
while I continued in the work world. It wasn’t until he suffered a stroke 12
years ago that we learned that he has MS. Finally, we had a reason for
the struggles. But sadly, since he was 30 years into the disease, the damage to
his brain was too far along for him to be able to benefit from any of the
treatments that would have helped him through earlier stages of the devastation.
You would think he would feel bitter and defeated. He was relieved to have a
diagnosis. And although his prognosis is no different, he is one of the most
positive, and funny, people that I know. Plus, his faith is amazing! I have not
met anyone who faces life with such peace and hope. He uses the amazing brain
God gave him to study the Bible, even learning Greek and Hebrew to help in this
task! And he does an excellent job of taking care of the house, me… and several
beloved dogs we’ve raised over the years. The dog on this card reminds us of
our Brittany Spaniel, Cody, who used to collapse upon any space he wished, and
he was partial to sofas and beds (with or without people already on them!) Cody
has been happily romping in dog heaven since 2006, but we still talk of his
many antics. And the memory of several can still make us laugh out loud.

My final card
for this post is also my final entry for the current challenge at Power Poppy. I
was thrilled when they started these up again and have had fun making cards
with spring blossoms. This card, featuring
the digi set “Blossoming Cherry” was inspired by a card I spotted on Pinterest.
The Tunnel Fold is surprisingly easy to create and I love the result!
I’m entering this card into several challenges including Incy Wincy
Designs (with a focus on the
Floral theme.)
