Weekend Creations

I’ve been loving making cards with autumn colors, so enjoyed using that color scheme with this wonderful digi from Sheepski Designs named “Waiting.” I created the background with patterned paper for the sky and furthest hill, doing some major fussy-cutting around the trees and fairy. I also created a haunted feeling by adding torn vellum clouds covering the moon. I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen, using the gel pen to add a gauzy layer and bit of lace to the fairy's skirt and a bit of texture to her wings. Am entering the card into several challenges including Outlawz Sunday Songs and Rhymes challenge (Nothing Gold Can Stay by Robert Frost), The Sisterhood of Crafters Challenge (A wood-related theme… figure the stand of trees fits), and several challenges with autumn colors. The sentiments are computer-generated.

The current Tiddly Inks challenge theme is “Trick or Treat-Spooky or Sweet.” My sweet card features the digi named “Thanks a Latte.” The sentiment on the front of the card is from a Lily of the Valley Digi set named "Sentiment Tags." The inside sentiment is a freebie from Desert Diva. Paper piecing and a large diecut doily add some extra patterns and texture.

My final card this post was so fun to make. It features adorable critters drawn by artist Sherry West for her book “It's raining Cats! It's raining Dogs! It's raining  Bats! And Poppywogs!" It is her first book and has already sold out the first run on Amazon. How exciting is that?!! To celebrate the launch of her book, Sherry is hosting a contest on her website using a free digi. I wanted to make a really special card… to used the Penny Slider technique so that the little Froggie can twirl down the front of the card. So fun! The sentiments are computer-generated.
