End of Week Cards

It’s Friday, so time for another challenge at QKR Stampede!  Stop by the challenge, which is always “Anything Goes” and several prizes are awarded. Maybe you’ll be inspired to enter a card or two yourself? My DT card features one of my favorite Eureka digital images named Butterfly Background (that is available for just $2.) During last month's Spectember Challenge sponsored by Spectrum Noir, I’d created the orange butterfly on this card using a technique called Pointillism. I’d first traced the butterfly onto vellum, then used a fine-line sharpie marker to draw dots over the pencil lines. When finished, I colored the image from the back with Spectrum Noir Coloring System alcohol markers, then used a black fine-line marker and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen to add more definition to the front of the image. When finished, I fussy-cut the image and attached it atop the full background digi.
Colored a few of the other butterflies in shades of yellow gold and added black photo corners for contrast.  The sentiment is a freebie from TLC Creations. Am entering this card into a few challenges including The Butterfly Challenge (used one color- Mandarin, and one theme- marker pens), Double-D’s Challenge (Orange & White) and Outlawz Monochrome Color Challenge.)

This weeks sponsor for the  Colour Crazy Challenge is Createful Heart and I created my DT card with a great image named “Rudy Rooster.” A friend raises chickens and I colored this handsome guy with Spectrum Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen to represent one of her favorite roosters. (But I also did some google research to assist with the coloring and feathering.)  The red plaid background is cut from a paper napkin (I picked up a package from the local dollar store for… well… a dollar!) and the sentiments are computer-generated.

My final card for this posting features a beautiful Ching-Chou Kuik digital image named “Peony“ which I colored with Spectrum Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. I loved coloring the digi with rich fall colors and added a few small ruby red rhinestones to add a touch of elegance. (You can see them in the close-up pic; one on her headdress, two on her necklace. I also used a silver and a gold gel pen on her jewelry. You can't see it very well in the photo, but they add a beautiful luster and shine.)
Am entering this card into several challenges that focus on colors of fall including Ching-Chou Kuik’s blog and FB challenges (Pumpkin/Halloween Colors), and Power Poppy ‘s “What Flower are You? (I’ve always loved poppies, and when I researched and learned that they represent remembrance and peace I knew that I had my flower! I also have worked in the field of drug prevention for over 30 years… so I regularly teach people able the dangers of drugs, including opium/heroin that comes from poppies.) I also just discovered a new challenge for DT's Only. There is some pretty steep competition... but I think I'll learn from the other DT's as many are so very talented!
