Sept 2Fer Challenge

I love the intriguing stamping opportunity called "Twofer Card Challenge" which requires the use the exact same stamp or die to make two cards with distinctly different designs for two different occasions. The September Challenge is named "Critters" and I used a butterfly from a Cottage Cutz die as a focal point on my two cards. Before starting the cards, I cut several of the die images from black cardstock and then cut the butterfly from the sentiment. I glued orange vellum to the butterfly wings and trimmed it close.

My first card is a friendship card. I used two solid Posh Impression wood mount stamps and a few juicy ink pads to make the beautiful roses. After fussy-cutting the images, I added depth to the roses by shading the petals with Spectrum Noir markers. I created the lattice background using instructions on the Butterfly Challenge blog HERE. (I accidentally cut my paper strips a bit thicker, but I think they worked.) The sentiments (front and inside) are both from a Beccy’s Place digi set named “Spring Tulips.” Am entering this card into a few other challenges including Spectember Day 11- Try Something New. (I’ve never made a lattice card before… and was surprised how easy it is to do!)

My second card is a Happy Fall card created from an upcycled calendar page. The sentiment on the front of the card is from a We Are Three Digital Shop set named “Harvest.” The inside sentiment is a freebie from HERE.

  1. Your lattice card is lovely. Really the strips can be any width that you like . The thinner the more you have to weave in and out. Love the colours here. Thankyou for coming and spinning the butterfly wheel with me. Hugs Mrs A

  3. Once again you have made two lovely designs, Kathy, this time with your butterfly critter as the star! Your lattice-walled garden is a beautiful location for her on your friendship card and she is the very color of fall on your second card! Great idea to upcycle the calendar page and beautiful insides, too!! Thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #20! Hugs, Darnell

  4. I have to tell you that I love the orange vellum against the black wings; we've got tons of Monarchs drifting around here, and they so remind me of them! Great choice for the 'critters' theme. Your lattice work is lovely and is a perfect backdrop for the butterfly and those pretty roses. Clever idea to upcycle a calendar page for your second card, too! I'll have to check my stash of 'things saved just in case' and give it a go! Really lovely cards. Thanks so much for joining us at the Twofer Challenge. Bev
