It's Wednesday! So time for another challenge at Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge Blog where challenges are always Anything Goes and prizes are awarded from one or more sponsors.  Stop by the blog to check it out! The sponsor this week is Dr Digi and this fun image is named Christmas Chris. I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers and a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. When I saw the digi I knew that I had to pair it with sentiments from a digi set named “Here Comes Christmas.” I finished the card and inside sentiment with a trio of green and tiny red rhinestones.

The 12 Months of Christmas Link Up- Challenge #57   

I love being a Contributor for artist Beccy Muir at her blog named “Beccy’s Place.” Not only is Beccy a sweet person, I also get to create with her amazing stamps and digis before anyone else. How cool is THAT?! The most recent cards were created with a clear stamp set named “Cottage Garden” that made the trip all the way from Australia to my home in Wisconsin.

My first “assignment” was to create a card with a monochromatic theme. I embossed the birdbath image on white cardstock with black pigment ink and fine black embossing powder. I made a mask for the birdbath by stamping the image onto a post-it note., attached it to the birdbath, then sponged three shades of blue ink across the card, adding a bit of purple and orchid inks across the middle to create a lovely sunset. (It is no longer monochromatic… but does add some depth and drama!)  When finished, I removed the mask and added shadows to the birdbath with a few grey Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and highlights with a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. I trimmed the finished image, cut an oval from a piece of vellum and attached it with photo corners and a strip of sheer black ribbon. The tag is made with a sentiment from the set.

My second “assignment” was to create a colorful card with the image.  This time I used Marvy Markers to color several layers of ink onto the hollyhocks, shrubs and small bushes. I spritzed the image with water and pressed it onto a postcard-sized piece of white cardstock. Filled in a bit more color with the markers, then used chalks, a makeup sponge and template cut from a scrap of paper to create a cloudy sky. I used a die from the Diemond Dies Window Set to cut the window from woodgrain paper from my scrapbook stash and taped  acetate “glass” to the underside of the window.  Cut a rectangle from the front of an A2 sized piece of cardstock and attached the scene behind the window.  Created the valance by threading a bamboo skewer through the holes in lace from my sweet mom’s stash. When finished I attached the finished scene to an A2 card front. The sentiments on the front of the card and inside are both from the set.
